Atlantic Technological University (ATU) was established on 1 April 2022 following the merger of Galway/Mayo Institute of Technology, Institute of Technology Sligo, and Letterkenny Institute of Technology. ATU has approximately 27,000 students and 2,500 staff across its nine campuses in the West and North West region of Ireland. The University serves a diverse group of learners, staff, communities and organisations, playing a major role in supporting development in the region and further afield. Since its inception, ATU can already point to considerable achievements such as becoming a member of European University Alliance EU GREEN and successfully bidding for new nationally relevant higher education programmes in Pharmacy and Veterinary Medicine. During this time of development and growth, ATU now seeks to appoint a Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Computing. Reporting to the President, the Dean will have overall responsibility for the Faculty’s activities, including programme development, excellence in teaching and learning, research & innovation, engagement with enterprise, planning, budgeting, resource allocation and knowledge exchange. The role will be pivotal in the development of the academic and research reputation of the Faculty, providing an outstanding experience for both staff and students.
The successful candidate will be an experienced senior academic leader with a track record of developing academic and research excellence. They will have proven experience of managing financial and physical resources, as well as demonstrable line management experience in a large and complex environment. The ideal candidate will also have a proven track record of delivering growth and developing capability and capacity in research, innovation and engagement.
