Job Summary
The Electrical Estimator is a key member of the team responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of cost-effective and technically sound modular projects. This role involves preparing commercial and technical tender return packages, formulating accurate cost estimates, consulting with clients on design options, and coordinating with various suppliers and sub-contractors. As an estimator, you will work closely with various internal departments to ensure that all project requirements are met within budget and schedule, while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance with industry regulations.
Responsibilities
1. Develop detailed electrical & mechanical cost estimations for modular projects, including materials, labour, sub-contractors, specialist suppliers and internal design costs.
2. Consult with clients on technical designs, recommending cost-effective and efficient solutions based on their project requirements.
3. Estimate material costs and labour requirements for modular builds, ensuring that the proposed designs align with client budgets and expectations.
4. Regularly engage with suppliers to source materials at competitive prices and occasionally visit suppliers to build strong relationships and understand the supply chain.
5. Collaborate with internal teams such as engineering, production, and procurement to verify costs, specifications, and timelines.
6. Review client specifications and offer advice on how to optimize materials and designs for cost-efficient modular construction.
7. Provide pre construction and conceptual designs for clients when required as part of tender packages.
8. Ensure all costs, materials, and designs are fully compliant with relevant industry standards and company procedures.
9. Maintain accurate and organized records of tenders, quotes, and client interactions on sales database.
10. Contribute to the preparation of sales reports and project documentation as needed.
11. Work with engineering and operations departments on the handover and support for new projects.
12. Stay updated with industry trends and technical innovations to offer clients the most efficient and cost-effective solutions.
Key Skills & Competencies
1. Proficiency in Excel, AutoCAD, and SAP, or a willingness to undergo training to bridge any skills gaps.
2. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
3. Ability to communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
4. Solid understanding of electrical systems and modular construction processes.
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
6. Strong organizational skills with the ability to adhere to deadlines and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
Education & Experience
1. Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
2. Level 6 Craft Certificate in Electrical trade with relevant industry experience will also be considered.
3. Previous experience in cost estimation, electrical systems design, or modular manufacturing is advantageous.
4. Familiarity with industry standards, electrical codes, and building regulations is desirable.
