Head of Pharmacy
A clinical pharmacy executive manager is sought to lead the day-to-day operations and overall management of the pharmacy service and staff, while overseeing the governance and implementation of medicine management within a specialist rehabilitation hospital in South Dublin.
Purpose of Position:
* To provide strategic direction on the development of the health service's pharmacy service in line with legislation and national policies.
* To ensure good pharmaceutical practice, legal and ethical, in the provision of the pharmacy service and adherence to relevant legislation, including the Pharmacy Act 2007.
* To develop and advise on strategies and technologies required to deliver and maintain the pharmacy service.
Main Responsibilities:
* Lead pharmacy service planning and monitoring, considering skill mix, staff resources, and advances in technology.
* Liaise with senior pharmacy colleagues, nursing, medical, and financial colleagues to manage drug expenditure and ensure alignment with organizational and national guidance.
* Promote a safety culture that aligns with organizational, national, and professional guidelines.
* Evaluate and manage risks associated with the use of medicines and participate in the hospital's medicines safety reporting process.
Requirements:
* Be a registered pharmacist with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland or be entitled to be so registered.
* Greater than 5 years post-qualification hospital experience and practice.
* At least 2 relevant years of experience in managing pharmacy and staff.
* Possess knowledge, managerial, and administrative ability to satisfactorily discharge the duties of the office.
