Group Accountant Consolidated Reporting Function:Group Financial ReportingLocation: Dublin with possibility of some travel Job Type:Permanent, HybridThe RoleReporting into the Manager of Consolidated Reporting, the Group Accountant will contribute to building and running the Group financial reporting process. This will be a hands on role to set up and run a Group quarterly reporting cycle with a focus on the delivery of financial results, while developing systems, processes and controls to ensure that risks are minimised and processes are scalable as the business grows.Key Contribution AreasPrepare and review templates and schedules to facilitate the consolidation process, including preparing consolidation journals, elimination, and group intercompany reconciliations.Support business units through the reporting process and review their submissions.Support the preparation of statutory accounts including completing a technical review to ensure all reporting requirements are met and complete for year-end audit. Support in the improvement of the financial reporting process, specifically relating to growing statutory and regulatory disclosure requirements.Support the preparation of financial results, including completing analytical reviews of subsidiary accounts submissions within required deadlines.Work to ensure that any points raised by internal or external audit are promptly resolved.Support the design and maintenance of a Group Compliance and Internal Controls Framework encompassing the development and maintenance of the Group Accounting Manual, reporting templates and instructions for all subsidiary businesses.Support with various projects to enhance and develop the consolidation process.Support in embedding the risk culture and control framework within Group Finance, including identifying risks and controls, and remedial actions to address all points.Provide support across Group Finance for all tasks, including M&A project work when required.Personal CapabilitiesHighly motivated self-starter with the ability to work under pressure, achieve targets and meet deadlinesAble to develop and manage projects.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical points.Proactive, with an enthusiastic attitudeCommitted to continuous process improvement.Highly flexible individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment .Excellent inter-personal skills; including the ability to work with stakeholders in business units and ensure the group reporting requirements.Functional or Technical Knowledge and Skills RequiredRequired:Qualified accountant ACA, CA or ACCA, with several years post qualification experience;Insurance industry experienceDetailed consolidation experienceBeneficial:Excellent IFRS knowledge (preferably including IFRS 17 experience)US GAAP knowledge would be an advantageBig 4/Top 10 Accounting Practice background with both external audit experience and industry experienceExcellent PC skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.) with a strong appreciation of financial systems (e.g. general ledger).Experience of financial systems such as SAP BPC, Workiva, and Tagetik would be an advantage.You must have the right to work in Ireland and will need to evidence this should your application be successful.By applying for this role you agree to Athora’s Candidate Privacy Notice.Apply By:21-03-2025
