Job Description
Works under supervision to provide high-level support to Special Education Department and Special Education Leadership team by identifying business challenges and opportunities. Uses data analytics to challenge assumptions and to help influence changes to operations, processes, and programs. Strategically collaborates with subject-matter experts across all Special Education and Central Office service areas on projects to clarify goals and objectives and improve overall service and operational performance of the department. Also provides communication support and project management and strategic support to the Special Education Director.
Duties And Responsibilities
1. Manage projects assigned by Special Education Director by assisting in the planning and organizing of the assigned Special Education programs or initiatives; develop a project plan and identify team members as appropriate; lead data and strategy team and cross-functional project teams.
2. Design methods to track the effectiveness of new initiatives, such as return on investment analysis and recommend decisions based on the outcomes.
3. Identify project tasks and appropriate representatives to assist in completing projects; identify, analyze, measure, and manage project risks and opportunities; align work across offices within the district as a whole and review plan of action with Special Education Director.
4. Perform project and data analysis, manage risks, identify and influence necessary course corrections, creatively solve problems, and communicate program or project status and activities with Special Education Director. Assist with developing, coordinating, and recommending changes for the improvement of workflow in the program or section area.
5. Lead a team for tracking all deliverables and progress made against milestones or projects; communicate findings, and provide regular updates and reports to the Special Education Director and leadership team via formal presentations or written reports.
6. Ensure the right decision-makers review and provide feedback on appropriate documents and/or proposals.
7. Provide support in the development and measurement of departmental smart goals, key performance indicators, and objectives; evaluate the department's performance across all areas to ensure targets and goals are met; manage the communication and regular update of all Special Education-related goals to Special Education Director and other stakeholders.
8. Prepare any deliverables or documents, as needed for special meetings including Cabinet, Board, and external stakeholder meetings on behalf of the Special Education Director; prepare and maintain special internal and external reports, as requested.
9. Conduct periodic audits of department activities to ensure compliance with laws, policies, and procedures; assist in the development, revision, and implementation of Special Education policies and procedures.
10. Assist in the management and development of a strategic communications plan and ensure the plan is executed for all Special Education related areas; oversee all Office of Special Education related communications to all parties; school-level employees, central office employees, and the public; develop responses to inquiries from various stakeholders regarding issues related to the department.
11. Collaborate with other departments within the district to ensure communication regarding Special Education Department activities aligns appropriately with other messaging and activities; solicit feedback from employees on communications, as appropriate and adjust as needed.
12. Perform other related duties as assigned or directed.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor's Degree in Education, Business, Public Administration, Management, or related field.
