The person holding this position is required to support the principle that patient care comes first at all times. They should approach their work with flexibility and enthusiasm to ensure this principle is realized for every patient.
Responsibilities include:
1. Maintaining awareness of the primacy of the patient in all hospital activities.
2. Participating in the Group’s performance management programme.
3. Adhering to HACCP, EHO, HIQA, and HSE regulations.
4. Being aware of statutory Occupational Health & Safety legislation under the Safety, Health & Welfare Act, 1989.
5. Ensuring the efficient and economical use of materials and equipment.
6. Proper use and reporting of defects in cleaning materials and equipment.
7. Carrying out cleaning duties as per schedules and signing off on completed work.
8. Performing assigned cleaning duties and assisting in catering and cleaning tasks.
9. Maintaining high standards of hygiene in kitchens, stores, and all equipment.
10. Monitoring and recording refrigerator/freezer temperatures to ensure compliance with HACCP and national hygiene standards.
11. Assisting in plating patient meals and operating cash registers as required.
12. Complying with policies from statutory bodies related to health & safety, infection control, and waste management.
13. Observing hospital policies on discretion and confidentiality.
14. Presenting in full, clean uniform at scheduled times.
15. Demonstrating a friendly, cooperative attitude towards visitors, relatives, and staff.
16. Participating in roster duties, training, and emergency procedures.
17. Ensuring security in the department by locking doors and equipment as necessary.
18. Supporting services operation over 7 days, including night, evening, weekend, and shift work.
General
Responsibilities include compliance with uniform and hygiene standards, potential restructuring, maintaining patient dignity and privacy, and upholding a professional and respectful attitude. The post requires accountability, proper uniform use, and adherence to safety policies.
KPI’s
Developing and managing Key Performance Indicators aligned with hospital targets, creating action plans, and fostering a performance management culture.
Additional Conditions
Attending fire safety training, reporting accidents, adhering to infection control policies, complying with safety regulations, and supporting sustainable initiatives are mandatory.
Risk Management, Infection Control, Hygiene, and Safety
Everyone shares responsibility for risk management, infection control, and safety, requiring training, policy familiarization, and compliance. The post holder must support a quality improvement culture and cooperate with management on safety matters.
