Overview PepsiCo R&D are hiring an R&D Region Scientist on a temporary basis for 12 months. This role is designed to support the Europe R&D work plan with focus on supporting across all platforms (CSD, Energy and /hydration).
The main objective of the role is to serve as the R&D regional project lead to ensure launch of global initiatives.
R&D Scientists and project managers lead and support complex global and local projects aimed at new product development and launch, technology development and equipment capability improvements to contribute into PepsiCo portfolio's sustainable growth.
Responsibilities To lead Europe projects across the entire portfolio from G0 to G4 on low complexity projects and G2+ on medium to high complexity projects or as needed based on business agenda, by working closely with brand managers and global R&D partners, integrating all technical components from R&D disciplines and SC needed to enable outcome and continually wires key teams in R&D and business to anticipate issues and drive both compliance and on time delivery.R&D contact for scale up trials, product validation runs and Global documentation adaptation for BU Commercialization and Supply Chain teams with the aim of assessing a possible impact of technological process and new packaging on the quality of the product – accountable for the project and technical brand standards.To create technical information for labeling in compliance with local regulation and food law.To deliver innovation agenda to achieve AOP calendar and NPD targets and in compliance with TSG, FSS, PGCS, PQP protocols and policies – representing R&D on TSG and Regional project calls; represents region on Global TTL calls.Understand Methods of Consumer research and Partner with sensory and consumer team, basing on the Consumer reports data contribute to defining main routes of product design to deliver superior products and capture product intelligence.Demonstrates Functional Excellence: Generates hypotheses and actively seeks and independently develops creative technical solutions for problems within projects. Qualifications Higher degree in Food Science / Chemistry / Microbiology / Engineering or related discipline with at least 4+ years experience product development in a consumer products company.Or Bachelor of Science and 5+ years experience in a related field.Detailed knowledge of beverage process, ingredients, food additives, local regulatory requirements and experience in interpreting and applying them.Results oriented, proactive self-starter, able to work on their own initiative as well as being a team player.Self-starter, self-motivating - able to deal with uncertainty and complexity.Solid Project management skills, with emphasis on negotiation, anticipation of obstacles and solutions, time management and organization skills and presentation skills.Highly proficient in spoken and written English.Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex data and distil into useful and actionable information, ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure.Strong communication & interpersonal skills, a degree of resilience to work in a matrix structure with good influencing skills.
Ability to gain alignment cross-functionally and leverage resources to achieve results.Good interpersonal skills and a passion for creativity and innovation within a commercially driven environment.Cultural sensitivity/flexibility in responding to different cultures.Capable of carrying forward own work agenda with low levels of supervision.Differentiating Competencies Required Sense of ownership, leadership skills, agility, dealing with ambiguity, successful working in a matrix organization, and techniques for great collaboration and networking.A proven track record in product development and interest in formulation and process.Advanced understanding of how PepsiCo R&D works – from concept to commercialization.Track record in getting the best from collaborative work relationships with business partners (Marketing, Supply Chain, Insights, Finance etc.)
