Job Description:
As an actuary within the Life and Heath Global Reserving Centre, you will support the Director, L&H Reserving Innovation on global Transformation and Simplification initiatives for L&H reserving. A key element to the role will be to provide technical expertise, working together with the process reengineering team, to optimise, simplify and transform SCOR’s L&H reserving processes. This will include providing input, from an L&H reserving perspective, into the Target Enterprise Architecture project, and other SCOR Group transformation projects and initiatives.
You will also provide support and guidance to all SCOR’s L&H Reserving teams globally. This will include suggesting improvements to processes, consulting on possible approaches, providing expertise, and developing prototypes and examples where relevant.
As process improvements are embedded, you will help to design approaches to leverage SCOR’s new Enterprise Architecture and Data Platforms to provide better insights and analytics. You will also support L&H Reserving colleagues to upskill in various tools and technologies, such as Python.
Process Improvements
* Supporting the Director, L&H Reserving Innovation to provide technical expertise and direction to aid the optimization, simplification and transformation of SCOR's L&H reserving processes.
* Contribute to the IFRS17/Solvency II alignment work, ensuring proposals support local teams to deliver cashflows, AoCs, sensitivities, and analytics, as efficiently as possible.
* Together with L&H Pricing, support the assessment of the Pricing/Reserving feedback loop, identify gaps and opportunities. Support reserving activity to deliver on optimization and transformation of the key processes and ways of working across the two functions.
Support & Guidance
* Provide support to all SCOR’s L&H Reserving teams globally.
* Develop an understanding of reserving processes in all markets.
* Suggest improvements to processes, consulting on possible approaches, providing expertise, developing prototypes and examples where relevant.
* Support L&H Reserving colleagues to upskill in various tools and technologies (according to need and appetite), particularly providing a pathway for colleagues looking to develop or enhance their Python skills.
* As process improvements are embedded, help to support the Director, L&H Reserving Innovation to develop approaches to leverage both SCOR's existing data and new enterprise architecture and data platforms to provide better insights and analytics, thus enabling L&H Reserving to achieve its ambition to shift focus more towards analytics.
* Champion the use of innovative tools, techniques, and ways of working.
* As SCOR's new data platform is rolled out, support the onboarding and upskilling of the L&H Reserving teams.
Relationships
* Liaise closely with the Director, L&H Reserving Innovation, colleagues in the Finance Delivery team, and the Process Engineering Team, on transformation and simplification topics.
* Work directly with colleagues across all the market L&H reserving teams globally, and the Modelling Centre of Excellence team.
* Work closely with the central Technical Financial Reporting teams including the RDWH team and Cashflow Review and Consolidation team, to understand and pre-empt changes to the data warehouse and downstream processes that may affect reserving teams.
* Liaise with Pricing to ensure alignment with respect to new business onboarding processes.
* Liaise with Risk on relevant topics, e.g. with respect to Model Risk Management.
Experience
* Qualified Actuary (FIA, FSA or equivalent), c.0-5 years PQE, as a guideline.
* Experience building & optimizing actuarial reserving or pricing processes and systems, gained in a Life & Health (re)insurance context.
* Demonstrated experience streamlining and automating processes, as well as enhancing analytics capability.
* Expert programming skills in Python & SQL. Experience working with large, complex data sets (actuarial data warehouses). Experience with actuarial projection software such as Prophet and/or NS Mind advantageous.
