We have been retained by a food manufacturer client, to recruit a Quality Assurance Specialist, to join their team in West Cork.
The successful candidate will work under the quality manager and will play a pivotal role in ensuring the plant complies with all relevant food safety and quality standards. This position requires a professional with a strong understanding of food safety protocols, such as BRC standards, and a proven track record of working in a food manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Quality Assurance & Control:
Monitor and maintain quality control systems to ensure compliance with food safety standards, including BRC, HACCP, and customer-specific requirements.
Conduct regular quality checks and inspections across production processes.
2. Food Safety Compliance:
Oversee adherence to regulatory standards and company food safety policies.
Assist in the preparation and successful execution of third-party audits, including BRC, customer, and regulatory inspections.
3. Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate and detailed records of quality checks, corrective actions, and audits.
Prepare and review documentation for regulatory and customer requirements.
4. Training & Support:
Train staff on quality assurance protocols and food safety standards.
Provide guidance and support to the production team to ensure consistent adherence to quality and safety practices.
5. Continuous Improvement:
Identify areas for improvement in quality processes and implement changes to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
Participate in cross-functional teams to resolve quality or production challenges.
Requirements:
1. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a quality assurance role within the food manufacturing industry, ideally in meat processing.
2. Education: Degree or diploma in Food Science, Quality Management, or a related discipline (preferred).
3. Knowledge:
Strong understanding of food safety standards such as BRC, HACCP, and ISO 22000.
Familiarity with Irish and EU food safety regulations.
4. Skills:
Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and quality management software (advantageous).
