Process Development of Automated Equipment
Purpose Statement
To work in an NPD environment and project for process development. Multiple projects supporting large automation equipment being used to assemble and test medical devices. Seeing process and equipment builds from concept through to implementation. The ideal candidate will have worked on automated processes in a medical device setting with a knowledge of automated visual inspection or machine controls.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop robust (high capability) high yielding processes.
* Optimize process equipment and technology performance to enable transfer of efficient and repeatable processes to manufacturing.
* Develop automated inspection systems through vendors for use in process and qualify processes.
* Work closely with R&D engineering to develop new medical device designs and transfer validated designs to manufacturing.
* Vendor engagement for equipment design and builds. Supporting these from concept to implementation onsite.
* Equipment design and improvements to existing to update processes to facilitate NPI’s and improve inspection methods.
* Implement documentation, preliminary and manufacturing.
* Write and carry out validations / qualifications.
* Implement continued quality improvement.
* Liaise with other relevant functions with regard to ongoing development of current processes and future development needs.
* Will be responsible for commissioning varying new manufacturing technology, ramping up production, undertaking validations, continuous process improvement and identifying potential development opportunities for medical device technology.
* Evaluates in conjunction with EHS new equipment/processes/chemicals for environmental impact/effect to eliminate or lessen such impacts/effects.
Qualifications & Experience
* Level 8 degree in relevant Engineering or Science discipline (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electronic, Production etc).
* 5+ years relevant experience on automated equipment in a regulated industry
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with good leadership abilities.
* Excellent mentoring skills
* Experience in any of the following is desired:
* Automation
* Automated inspections
* New technology identification and development
* More Vision systems than PLC’s so vision programming and debugging
* Experience with camera systems, deep learning etc.
