We would like to invite applications for a Junior Activities Officer in Northwood Residential Home, Old Ballymun Road, Northwood, Dublin 5.
37.5 hours a week
Purpose of the Role
To enhance the quality of the resident's well-being by providing stimulating pastimes, to support and enable residents to reach their artistic and creative potential in an encouraging and supportive environment.
Responsibilities:
To identify the social activity preferences and needs of each resident.
To maintain and update individual social activity plans for each resident.
To plan the daily social activity programme and facilitate external providers to ensure value for the residents.
To motivate care staff to be actively involved in the delivery of the social activity programme.
To communicate effectively with the staff nurse regarding the well-being of residents to take part in social activity
To develop a good rapport with the relative / friends of the residents where appropriate.
To ensure all staff/residents and families are aware of planned activities
Qualifications:
Sonas training, QQI Level 5 Healthcare Support or Equivalent
Desirable
QQI Level 6 qualifications in Art/ Design/ Music or equivalent
Essential Criteria
Cheerful and compassionate nature
Be caring, patient, empathetic and have a strong interest in care of the elderly
Team player
Sound judgment, initiative and problem-solving abilities and be able to pay attention to the details. Reading, writing and communicating clearly in English is vital.
Desirable:
Experience is preferred, but not as essential as genuine desire to develop or progress
a career in this field is a vital attribute.
Skill sets that could be value adding to social programmes and activities and willingness to use them.
Excellent communication skills
Experience in a similar working environment
