Capital Projects - Infrastructure Controls Specialist - All Levels

To continue the successful growth of EY’s Consulting practice, we are looking for experienced, motivated Project Controls Specialists who have previously worked in construction and infrastructure projects to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of project controls, ensuring the successful delivery of projects on time and within budget. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with various stakeholders.

Our Capital Programme Delivery (CPD) team sits within the Transformation Delivery competency of EY’s Irish Consulting practice. Our CPD team is committed to delivering exceptional client services across a range of sectors including energy, utilities, transport, housing, and healthcare. Our ambition is to become the Trusted Advisor for our clients in the procurement, construction, and operational phases of major capital programmes by leveraging:

3. Our global EY experience across the Capital Programme Delivery (CPD) project lifecycle
Role and Requirements:
To continue to grow EY’s successful CPD business, we are currently hiring Project Controls Specialists at all levels with an engineering/technical or construction related background.
Responsibilities:
1. Work directly with EY’s infrastructure clients across our focus sectors (energy, water, transport, gas, telecoms, housing, and healthcare) to help create innovative insights and solutions to meet their needs.
2. Develop and implement project control processes and procedures to effectively manage scope, schedule, cost, and quality on infrastructure projects.
3. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to establish project baselines and monitor performance against established metrics.
4. Create and maintain detailed project schedules, including critical path analysis and resource allocation, to optimise project timelines and identify potential risks and opportunities.
5. Monitor project costs and expenditures, track budget variances, and provide timely analysis and reporting to support informed decision-making.
6. Identify and mitigate project risks through proactive risk assessment, analysis, and mitigation strategies.
7. Conduct regular progress meetings and presentations to update project stakeholders on project status, key milestones, and performance metrics.
8. Utilise project management software and tools to streamline project controls processes and enhance project visibility and transparency.
9. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior project controls staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team.
10. Support the preparation of project proposals, bids, and cost estimates by providing accurate and reliable project controls data and analysis.
11. Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices in project controls and management.
Internal Responsibilities:
1. Assisting in client account management activities such as recruitment for the project team, managing financial aspects of client engagements, and quality and risk management.
2. Building valued relationships with clients and colleagues to assist in generating new business across EY.
3. Providing a supporting role in presentations and proposals for elements of medium to high complex projects to prospective and existing clients.
4. Communicating effectively with EY senior management and working to build, manage and motivate high-performing teams.
5. Understanding all our service offerings and actively identifying opportunities to better serve clients.
6. Building strong internal relationships within Consulting and across other service lines.
7. Supporting team development activities, including coaching, mentoring, conducting performance reviews, and contributing to performance feedback.
8. Contributing to people initiatives including recruiting, retaining, and training activities.
9. Maintaining an educational programme to continually develop technical skills.
10. Understanding, following, and communicating workplace policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
To do this role effectively, we are looking for people with knowledge and experience in the following areas:
1. 3rd level educational qualification in Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
2. Relevant experience in project controls or project management within the infrastructure sector, with a proven track record of successfully managing large-scale projects.
3. Experience in consulting or similar client facing roles.
4. Expert in Planning Software: Microsoft Projects, Primavera P6 or equivalent planning software, Microsoft Office tools.
5. Sound knowledge of design, construction sequence, and logics.
6. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with a track record in managing complex programmes.
7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex data sets and develop actionable insights.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders at all levels.
9. Demonstrated leadership abilities, attention to detail with a proactive and results-driven approach to project controls management.
10. Knowledge of industry-specific regulations, standards, and best practices in infrastructure development and construction.
11. Additional professional qualifications, such as PRINCE2 or PMP, are desirable.
