Job Overview
We are seeking a Data Infrastructure Engineer with 2+ years of experience working with Canary Labs Historian and industrial data solutions. This role involves developing, managing, and optimising time-series data infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability.
You will work closely with clients, automation engineers, and AI teams to integrate historian systems with modern analytics platforms, allowing businesses to access, visualise, and analyse industrial data in real time.
Key Responsibilities
Data Historian & Infrastructure Management
* Deploy, configure, and maintain Canary Labs Data Historian for high-volume time-series data collection.
* Develop data storage strategies that ensure scalability, security, and long-term retention.
* Optimise historian read/write performance and reduce data retrieval latency for real-time analytics.
Integration & Data Pipeline Development
* Integrate Canary Historian with industrial control systems, SCADA, OPC servers, and IoT devices.
* Develop automated ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines to process historian data for reporting and analytics.
* Work with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) to store, replicate, and back up historian data securely.
Visualisation & Analytics Support
* Enable seamless data access for Power BI, Canary Axiom, and other visualisation tools.
* Assist AI & analytics teams in extracting and analysing historical and real-time process data.
* Ensure historian data integrates efficiently with predictive analytics and machine learning models.
Performance Optimisation & Security
* Implement role-based access control (RBAC), encryption, and data integrity measures.
* Continuously monitor historian system performance, troubleshooting latency, storage issues, and connectivity problems.
* Establish best practices for data governance, redundancy, and failover strategies.
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with Canary Labs Data Historian and time-series databases.
Industrial Data Expertise: Familiarity with SCADA, OPC UA/DA, MQTT, and industrial automation protocols.
Data Pipeline Development: Experience building ETL workflows, SQL queries, and cloud-based data storage solutions.
Performance Optimisation: Ability to tune historian systems for high performance in real-time environments.
Visualisation & Reporting: Experience with Power BI, Canary Axiom, Grafana, or other industrial dashboards.
Security & Compliance: Understanding of data governance, security policies, and compliance (GDPR, NIST, etc.).
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills for diagnosing data quality issues and system inefficiencies.
Communication: Ability to explain complex data infrastructure topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
* Experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud for historian data storage and backup.
* Familiarity with Python, PowerShell, or scripting for automation.
* Understanding of industrial AI applications using time-series data.
