Role: Treasurer

ROLE OF TREASURER
The Treasurer is a Trustee of the College and one of the three senior RCPI Officers who have a lead role in contributing to the continued evolution of the College.
1. The Treasurer is responsible for overseeing the financial affairs of the College and ensuring they are conducted within legal and regulatory requirements in accordance with the governing instruments and in line with good practice and College policies.
2. The Treasurer shall monitor and report to the College and Council on the financial health of the College and shall oversee the necessary financial reports, returns, accounts and audits.
3. The Treasurer will contribute to the general strategic direction of the College and support the delivery of the agreed plans.
4. The Treasurer shall lead the oversight of risk through the Finance Audit and Risk Committee (FinARC) and report to the Executive Committee and Council.
5. The Treasurer shall monitor and review the financial records and oversee the custody, protection, enhancement and development of the assets and resources of the College.
6. The Treasurer shall be a member of FinARC which is responsible for independently reviewing financial statements and the effectiveness of RCPI’s internal controls.
7. The Treasurer is a member of Council, Executive Committee, FinARC, RCPI Remuneration Committee and shall represent the Office of Treasurer on any other Boards or Committees as assigned by the President.
8. The Treasurer shall be a company director and secretary of Wolveridge Limited (No. 6 Events) and Stearne Limited (Dormant company).
9. The Treasurer shall perform any such further duties as outlined in their role specification on appointment as determined by the President and Council.
Requirements
KEY COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
* Experience and recent involvement in College activities and on College Committees
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Demonstrated capability to understand and develop strategy which supports the key objectives of the College
* Ability to take a leadership role to inspire others by example and influence change
* Some familiarity with financial matters is beneficial.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
* A Fellow of the College of at least 5 years standing
* Either a current member of Council, or has served on Council within the last ten years
* Is ordinarily resident in Ireland;
* Is in good standing with the College.
The person appointed will be required to attend RCPI Council, Executive Committee and FinARC meetings either in person or online (estimated at approximately 2 to 3 meetings per month). Backfill is available if required.
PROCESS OF APPOINTMENT
The appointment will be made by the President and Council, in accordance with the College By-Laws, through a call for applications and competitive interview conducted by a panel appointed by the President.
