Job Summary:
The Financial Reporting Analyst is responsible for the preparation, analysis, and review of financial statements and reports. This role involves ensuring that financial data is accurate, timely, and compliant with relevant accounting standards and regulations. The Financial Reporting Analyst will work closely with various departments to gather and verify financial information, identify discrepancies, and provide insights to support decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Statement Preparation and Review:
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Ensure all financial statements are in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Conduct variance analysis to compare actual results with budgeted figures, explaining key differences.
Financial Data Analysis:
Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
Assist in the preparation of management reports, providing insights and recommendations based on financial performance.
Support the budgeting and forecasting process by providing accurate and relevant financial data.
Compliance and Internal Controls:
Ensure adherence to internal controls and company policies regarding financial reporting.
Assist in the preparation of documentation for audits and liaise with external auditors as needed.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting regulations and ensure the company’s financial reporting practices are in compliance.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with other departments (e.g., Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll) to gather accurate financial data.
Provide financial reporting training and guidance to junior staff and other departments.
Communicate financial insights and findings to senior management and other stakeholders.
System and Process Improvement:
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting.
Participate in the development and maintenance of financial reporting systems and tools.
Support the integration of new financial systems or software.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification preferred.
Experience: 3-5 years of experience in financial reporting, accounting, or auditing. Experience in reviewing financial statements is essential.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, ERP systems like SAP, Oracle).
Strong understanding of GAAP, IFRS, and other relevant accounting standards.
Familiarity with financial reporting software and tools.
