Job Description: ESB is looking for a Specialist Civil & Structural Engineer to join us as we transition to Net Zero by 2040.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the professional services and technical engineering input into project engineering works packages including the provision of engineering solutions appropriate for various aspects of projects from feasibility through to construction.
Join the Civil, Environmental & Renewable Engineering Group within Engineering and Major Projects who are providing a range of consenting, design, construction, asset maintenance, and management services required within Ireland and overseas to deliver on ESB's ambitious plans to achieve Net Zero by 2040.
Key Responsibilities Lead in the provision of technical and engineering input from concept to handover in the delivery of projects.Undertake civil and structural designs and calculations across a variety of materials and structure types and the ability to critically review design submissions by others.Act as subject matter expert on Civil/Structural technical services provision and take a key role in the development of more junior team members.Provide contract management of civil contracts, with a leading role in specification preparation, enquiry preparation, commercial negotiation and contract management.Manage stakeholders and co-ordinate all relevant interfaces required to successfully deliver projects to approved scope, budget, and programme.Ensure a consistent high standard of output which meets all technical, commercial, safety, programme and customer requirements.Promote and lead the safety culture across all activities by taking ownership and demonstrating visible commitment to safety.Experience and Qualifications Level 8 Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification.A high level of technical expertise across civil/structural engineering sector with a proven track record in delivering significant projects.Strong communications skills and report writing skills and proven ability in management of external stakeholders.Critical thinking and judgement required to ensure significant civil/structural risks are identified and successfully managed on projects.A strong ability to identify project work requirements and to initiate, plan, scope and implement required work items with limited oversight.Full driving licence and access to a car.Expertise in the areas of civil/structural design of significant structures, structural condition assessment, repair, and reinstatement.Experience in the use of FIDIC Conditions of Contract, (Silver, Yellow, Red Book).Experience in project management or acting as a design lead on a project.Experience in team management.Chartered status in a recognized professional engineering institution.This position will be based in EMP Dublin or Cork offices but travel to project locations as required is a key requirement of the role.
