Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Health and Safety Manager to oversee and implement our health and safety policies across a dynamic and mobile workforce. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with Irish health and safety legislation and promote a culture of safety in our operations, primarily in HVAC and BMS services.
Key Responsibilities
1. Health and Safety Compliance
o Ensure the company complies with all relevant Irish health and safety legislation, standards, and regulations.
o Oversee regular audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards.
o Manage, maintain and enhance all health and safety documentation.
o Ensure the company is compliant with the requirements of ISO 45001 and 14001 while managing the yearly recertification effort.
2. Training and Development
o Manage the delivery of safety training programs for employees, including inductions, toolbox talks, refreshers and specialised training for mobile and site-based technicians.
o Keep staff updated on new regulations, procedures, and best practices.
3. Incident Management
o Lead investigations into workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses, ensuring root causes are identified and addressed.
o Maintain records of incidents on the company’s electronic quality management system and prepare reports for senior management and statutory bodies as required.
4. Policy and Process Development
o Manage the maintenance and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures specific to HVAC and BMS service, maintenance and projects.
o Regularly review and update risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and safe operating procedures.
o Ensure contractors and subcontractors adhere to company safety policies.
o Oversee correct sub-contractor onboarding.
5. On-Site Safety Management
o Manage regular site audit routines to ensure compliance with safety policies, focusing on high-risk construction, HVAC and BMS activities, while also supporting office-based staff and their day-to-day activities.
o Support project managers and supervisors in implementing safe work practices.
o Manage audits of tools, equipment and vehicles used by mobile engineers.
o Provide recommendations and corrective actions for identified non-compliance or risks.
6. Collaboration and Reporting
o Report to senior management monthly on health and safety performance, highlighting trends and recommendations.
o Collaborate with operations, HR, and management to integrate safety into all business processes.
o Actively foster a positive safety culture in all areas of the company.
o Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies to address safety concerns and ensure compliance with site-specific requirements.
7. Continuous Improvement
o Monitor industry developments and implement best practices in health and safety.
o Develop initiatives to foster a proactive safety culture across the organisation.
Requirements
1. Qualifications:
o Third Level Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
o Professional membership with IOSH (desirable).
2. Experience:
o At least 3 years experience in a health and safety management role, preferably within the HVAC, construction, or BMS sectors.
o Experience managing safety in a mobile workforce environment.
3. Knowledge:
o In-depth understanding of Irish health and safety legislation.
o Knowledge of HVAC and BMS operations and associated risks (advantageous).
4. Skills:
o Excellent communication and leadership skills.
o Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
o Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.

Additional Information
1. Travel: Based in our Cork office, some travel to project sites and client locations predominantly in Munster and Leinster.
2. Driving License: A full clean driving license is essential.
