Part Qualified Accountant
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Part Qualified Accountant to support a growing finance team in managing accounting operations.
The successful candidate will assist in the preparation of management accounts, month-end processes, balance sheet reconciliations, VAT returns, and financial analysis. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual currently studying towards a professional accounting qualification to gain hands-on experience while contributing to the financial reporting and analysis functions of the business.
The Role
1. Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
2. Prepare month-end journals, accruals, and adjustments to ensure accuracy and completeness.
3. Provide variance analysis on key financial metrics and operational performance.
4. Assist in the preparation of management reports for senior leadership.
5. Complete month-end close activities, including posting month-end journals and accruals.
6. Review and ensure accuracy of financial entries in the general ledger.
7. Assist in preparing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating discrepancies.
8. Ensure that month-end deadlines are met and financial data is accurate and complete.
9. Prepare and submit VAT returns in compliance with tax regulations.
10. Ensure VAT is correctly recorded, and tax filings are completed on time.
11. Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts, ensuring they align with business objectives.
12. Provide variance analysis, helping to identify cost-control measures and margin improvements.
13. Analyse financial data to offer insights into cost control, profitability, and overall business performance.
The Person
1. Part Qualified Accountant (studying towards CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent).
2. 4+ years of experience in a management accounting or similar finance role.
3. Strong understanding of month-end processes, including posting journals, balance sheet reconciliations, and VAT returns.
4. Good working knowledge of VAT regulations and tax compliance requirements.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
6. Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
7. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
