Residential Social Care Worker (Disability) Job Description
This role supports individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities and/or autism in a person-centered and holistic service. The designated centre is HIQA regulated.
Key Responsibilities:
* Uphold and respect the human, legal, and constitutional rights of each individual, empowering them to grow and achieve personal autonomy.
* Facilitate choice and decision-making skills, self-advocacy, and involvement in advocacy for people who use services.
* Enable individuals to pursue hobbies and interests and foster self-help and social skills for maximum autonomy.
* Facilitate community participation and integration.
Person-Centered Support for Living:
* Ensure a person-centered approach to service delivery, supporting individual development in occupation, leisure activities, communication, behavior support plans, independent living skills, social integration, and personal care.
* Assist with fostering, encouraging, and developing self-care skills, including personal hygiene, health matters, and appearance care.
* Provide physical support, medical appointments, healthy diets, and maintain home environments to acceptable standards.

Requirements:
* A B.A. in Social Care or equivalent qualification with registration as a Social Care Worker with CORU by November 2025.
* An ability to follow plans, methods, and ongoing needs of individuals supported, effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Main Duties/Responsibilities:
* Support service users with intellectual and physical disabilities, autism, and daily living activities.
* Maximize independence, ensure service users make sense of their environment, learn new skills, and live a meaningful life.
* Act as an advocate, facilitate participation in care/placement plans, accompany service users to appointments, assist those with reduced mobility, and manage challenging behaviors using positive behavior support plans.
