About the Insights and Planning Office:
The Insights and Planning Office (IPO) is responsible for embedding traditional institutional research activities (data governance and analytics) within the organisation and the strategic development, communication and co-ordination of RCSI's approach to institutional performance and metrics.
The IPO works collaboratively across the institution to provide strategically relevant information and analysis to enable evidence based senior management decision-making that aligns institutional strategy with opportunities to enhance performance.
A core objective and focus of the IPO within the current RCSI strategy "Innovating for a Healthier Future - RCSI Strategy 2023-2027, is to co-ordinate institutional plans to enhance RCSI's international research and teaching reputation, develop international partnerships and deliver multiple milestones to support sustainability, climate health and UNSDG activities in education, research and engagement.
Role Purpose:
The Data and Insights Executive will join a small, vibrant and dynamic team to support an array of projects.
Specific duties of the role include:
* Support the annual data collection and submission process for relevant league tables e.g. Times Higher Impact Ranking
* Support the annual reporting process for rankings and reputation to internal and external stakeholders;
* Conduct regular analysis on research performance and benchmarking to inform strategy and business development initiatives;
* Support a range of projects relating to Green Surgery, Sustainability, Climate Health sand United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) in education, research and healthcare settings;
* Support responsible metrics and open science initiatives aligned with RCSIs commitment to Co ARA - Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment;
* Support and improve RCSI's annual departmental metric reporting process;
* Convene and co-ordinate relevant working groups;
* Support data collection, data integrity and reporting for the international engagement CRM system Support projects relating to the implementation and ongoing development of the Mi-RCSI Data Hub Clearly and concisely gather, analyse and interpret qualitative and quantitative information to support strategic decision making;
* Support the ongoing management of IPO initiatives relating to data, institutional performance and metrics;
* Support the day-to-day operations of the IPO and provide cover for colleagues where applicable;
* Develop and continuously improve management information and reports Convene and manage meetings Perform other related duties as required.
Person Specification:
The successful candidate will possess the following characteristics:
* Qualified to degree level in a relevant discipline e.g. science, business, management, social science.
* Experience working with data and data analysis/visualisation tools (e.g. advanced Excel, Power BI, Microsoft Dynamics)
* Possess broad and diverse competencies & skills enabling contribution to relevant projects and tasks involving creative content development, event management, social media platforms, publication production and marketing/advertising
* A broad knowledge of the higher education, scientific/clinical research and healthcare landscape;
* Demonstrable project management skills with the capacity to organise and complete multiple tasks simultaneously whilst maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
* Proficient in database and CRM technologies (Microsoft Dynamics CRM or similar).
* Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and a proven ability to empathise and listen.
* Exceptional written and oral communication skills and a demonstrable ability to translate complex (i.e. medical, scientific) information into engaging and compelling content;
* Ability to deliver results independently while also working collaboratively with staff at all levels across RCSI;
* A motivated, flexible, self-starter with the ability to operate at a strategic level;
