Medtronic
At Medtronic, we value what makes you unique. Be part of a company that thinks differently to solve problems, make progress, and deliver meaningful innovations.
Our Purpose
At our Medtronic, plc, R&D (Research & Development) Department in Galway, Ireland, we focus on the development of cutting-edge medical devices in the Coronary, Structural Heart, PVH, Cardiac Rhythm Management and Neuromodulation space. Our R&D Engineers in Galway are directly involved in working on the development of innovative products for use in medical procedures.
As a Senior R&D Engineer within the Neuromodulation operating unit you will be tasked with supporting a team in the technical development of new products through early-stage investigation/research and/or translation of that into commercial medical devices.
Medtronic pioneered the field of neuromodulation with the first commercially available spinal cord stimulation (SCS) technology to treat chronic pain and engineered the first deep brain stimulation (DBS) system to treat disorders such as Parkinson’s disease. We have gone on to develop the first implantable drug pump for the delivery of medication directly to the intrathecal space of the spine, inventing the first balloon kyphoplasty devices for the treatment of vertebral compression fractures and developing RF ablation systems to treat spinal tumours.
More than 40 years later, we continue to innovate, constantly challenging ourselves to disrupt the markets we created. We advance science by thinking and acting boldly, bringing together the right people with the right breadth of expertise to engineer groundbreaking therapies and technologies.
