Summary of Role
The Trainee Dental Nurse/Receptionist is a training role and will be provided with training/shadowing to enable you to be responsible for providing excellence in service through the efficient management of patients, both at reception and in surgery. You will work in close partnership with the dental and reception team, take instruction from the Dentist and Practice Manager, and have the ability to take ownership and responsibility for clinical policies and procedures in the practice.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Dental Nursing:
* Working closely with the Dentist, providing chair side assistance to ensure the professional, accurate and timely completion of treatments and relevant records as required for patient care.
* Ensuring clinical tests and audits are completed as required.
* Keep the clinical areas and all equipment and instruments clean, tidy and sterile as appropriate, according to the practice’s health and safety policy, manufacturers’ instructions and the Code of Practice relating to infection control as set out by the Dental Council of Ireland.
* Ensure that adequate stock levels are maintained for the smooth running of the practice.
* Liaise with reception team to ensure smooth patient communication and transfer of records.
Reception:
* Greeting and registering patients on a day-to-day basis at the reception desk.
* Providing information and reassurance to patients about their treatment.
* Phone and email management throughout the day.
* Daily cashing up exercise for the practice.
* Appointment book management to ensure maximisation of working hours.
* Providing support to clinicians by sending prescriptions, referral letters, x-rays etc.
* Performing any local administration tasks such as filing/scanning/lodgements/postage etc.
Qualifications/Experience
Essential
* 1+ year of admin or reception experience is required.
* Authorised to work in Ireland.
* Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
* Fluent in written and oral English.
* Must have working knowledge in use of Microsoft Office 2000 or later, particularly Excel and Word, Internet and mail.
Desirable
* Experience in medical/dental admin/reception is an added advantage.
* Familiar with reporting & statistical compilation.
