Clinical Nurse Manager II (St Clare’s Ward Medical/Surgical Ward) Full Time 37.5 hours per week
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Nurse Manager II (St Clare’s Ward Medical/Surgical) to join the Bon Secours Health System Hospital Galway, Ireland’s Largest Private Healthcare provider.
Job Purpose:
Responsible for the effective management of St Clare’s Floors and the coordination of all nursing care activities to ensure and maintain a high standard of nursing care to patients.
Ideal Candidate:
1. R.G.N.
2. 5 years post registration experience
3. Suitable management experience and/or qualification
4. Excellent interpersonal, leadership, accountability, and communication skills
5. Appropriate clinical and managerial skills with evidence of continuing professional development
6. Roster will generally be over 5 days a week; however, a flexible approach to work patterns is required in line with service
Essential Qualifications:
The post holder must be qualified to a minimum level of RGN and have 5 years nursing experience since receiving state registration, preferably in an acute general medical/surgical situation. Relevant management qualification/experience required. The post holder will be expected to be flexible in their attitude to accommodate changes as necessary in providing continuity of patient care.
Experience & Responsibility:
1. Responsible for the overall management of their department, ensuring that all staff carry out patient care in accordance with policies, procedures, and guidelines.
2. Responsible for allocating and supervising the duties of floor staff.
3. Responsible for administrative duties (Sister-in-charge) outside of office hours as agreed by Director of Nursing.
4. On a regular basis assesses the workload of the floor, checking performance, quality, and output to ensure the improved care of patients.
5. Ensures communication between department/other disciplines is effective and good working relationships are maintained.
6. As required prepares Patient Reports/Returns for Medical, Nursing, and Administrative staff.
7. Documents and reports complaints/accidents/good catch to Best Practice Manager/Director of Nursing in accordance with hospital policy. Is responsible for the adherence of all staff to risk management policy.
8. Observes and ensures that all staff are aware of, and comply with, the Health and Safety at Work/Fire Regulations. Reports any faulty equipment/work hazards to Director of Nursing.
