Job Summary:
Our client is a leading Hotel Group who are growing with multiple properties in Ireland and mainland Europe. They are currently seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Financial Controller to oversee 2 4-star properties in Tipperary and Waterford and manage all financial aspects of the hotels. As a key member of the management team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial health and compliance of the business. This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the financial strategy of both hotels and contribute to its continued growth and success.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
* Preparation and Reporting: Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts, Profit and Loss (P&L) statements, and cashflow projections. Ensure all figures are accurate, analyzed, and verified to support informed decision-making.
* Revenue Oversight: Monitor and control all sales revenue streams, providing detailed insights to optimize profitability and identify trends or areas for improvement.
* Forecasting and Budgeting: Develop and implement robust forecasting and budgeting processes that align with the strategic objectives of the hotel.
Operational Oversight:
* Accounts Department Management: Direct and support the accounts team in managing cash, debtors, creditors, and payroll. Ensure payroll is processed efficiently and all employees are paid accurately and on time.
* Compliance and Taxation: Guarantee full compliance with tax laws and regulations, ensuring timely submission of tax returns and payment of liabilities to avoid penalties.
* Financial Protection: Safeguard the business from financial risks by proactively identifying potential liabilities and implementing mitigation strategies.
Business Growth and Profitability:
* Strategic Support: Partner with the General Manager to identify opportunities for profit growth and cost savings, driving long-term financial sustainability.
* Performance Analysis: Regularly review financial performance, providing recommendations and actionable insights to enhance operational efficiency.
Leadership and Development:
* Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the accounts team, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and accountability.
* Communication: Serve as the financial liaison between the accounts department and operational management, ensuring financial objectives are clearly communicated and understood.
Requirements:
* An experienced Hotel Financial Controller with several years of experience.
* A Professional Accounting Qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CIMA) or similar.
* Demonstrated experience as a Financial Controller within the 4-star hotel sector or a similar hospitality environment.
* Excellent exposure to KPIs, internal controls, budgets, and forecasts.
* A proactive individual with the drive to excel in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong capacity to understand the dynamics of the hospitality industry, combined with expertise in compiling, analyzing, and interpreting financial data. Strong commercial and business partnering experience.
* Experience in leading, mentoring, and motivating a team to achieve shared goals.
* High-level proficiency in Excel and familiarity with financial systems/software.
