Key purpose of the job: The primary objective of this post is to lead a team of staff to provide care and support through a person-centred approach which meets the practical, physical and emotional needs of individuals, with an intellectual/learning disability, autism, behaviours/communication needs and/or associated mental health needs.
Staff will assist individuals with their day-to-day living, training and daytime opportunities, in which to live life to their fullest potential; achieve their highest level of functioning to maintain independence and/or to improve skills that will make them more independent.
Main responsibilities As Person In Charge you will be responsible for ensuring the effective management and development of the Service in line with Trinity Support & Care Services'(SCS) strategy, whilst at all times ensuring regulatory and contractual compliance.
You will also work collaboratively with Multi-Disciplinary Team(s), promoting the values of Trinity Support & Care Services, in the provision of safe, person-centred and quality assured services.
You will be required to participate in the Trinity SCS' role performance management process.

The People we Support Assist in the implementation of Social Care policies and guidelines which support person centred services in line with National Quality Standards and all legislative frameworks.Ensure the highest professional standards using an evidence-based approach to ensure clinical effectiveness and efficiency.Coordinate and prioritise appointments in liaison with multi-disciplinary teams.Participate in Quality Improvement initiatives to improve individual satisfaction.Address complaints, in a professional, logical and coherent manner; as per policy.To ensure that the highest possible standards of care are maintained at all times, consistent with the mission, vision and values of the service.Actively promote the participation of persons with an intellectual/learning disability in the planning of the centre/home.Report immediately to Assistant Director, Designated Safeguarding Officer any incident of concern in accordance with Trinity SCS' Incident Management Policy.Work in partnership with multi-disciplinary teams, families and other key people to support each individual to work towards and achieve their personal goals, guided by their individual care plan.Ensure your team(s) provide individualised support, using a facilitative and strengths-based approach to personal care, whilst always ensuring each individual's right to dignity and respect.Promote the social interaction of persons with an intellectual/learning disability, with the wider community, in accordance with their choices and personal goals.Work in partnership with MDT, implementing and promoting positive behaviour support strategies within the Service.Develop & maintain personalised support plans and risk assessments for each individual, with a person-centred approach.Staff Management Provide support / supervision to Team Leaders and front line staff.Ensure all staff members are fully informed on all matters affecting the day-to-day running of the services and that lines of communication are clear.Participate in matters concerning discipline, grievances, untoward incidents and complaints, when required.Participate in the recruitment of team members where appropriate (i.e.
short-listing/interviewing etc.
).Role model a culture within the workplace which supports the mission, vision and values of the organisation.Assist in the implementation of policies and procedures which support person centred services in line with the minimum standards and all legal frameworks.Coordinate and prioritise appointments in relation to MDT, participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve individual satisfaction levels.Ensure compliance with relevant legislation to maintain high standards of care in line with regulatory requirements.Coordinate with families, health care professionals and external agencies to provide holistic support to individuals.Manage the service budget effectively, ensuring resources are used efficiently.Ensure that all staff files are retained for purposes of audit and inspection ensuring that regulatory compliance is achieved in respect of file content.Ensure that all staff files are maintained to ensure confidentiality and to comply with GDPR and Data Protection principles.Health and Safety Ensure that services are compliant with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2005.Perform duties in a manner conducive to health and safety, and in accordance with the organisation's policies and procedures.Ensure that accidents and incidents involving individuals/visitors/staff are recorded in line with policy and all statutory reports completed to a high standard.Ensure all staff members are aware of their responsibilities in the event of an emergency accident/incident.Ensure that all aspects of Risk Assessments in relation to the premises/buildings for your service are evaluated, monitored and modified to provide a safe place to work/live.Implement safeguarding policies and procedures to protect individuals from harm.Record and Financial Management Maintain accurate and comprehensive records as required in the individual service e.g.
daily reports, financial records, communication books, family contact sheets and individual care plans (where applicable).Support individuals to manage their personal monies and document all transactions, whilst ensuring their personal finances are safeguarded.Ensure that files are up to date and stored in an orderly and secure fashion, that ensures individual confidentiality.Training and ongoing development Be aware of current developments in learning disability services, mental health services and all other provisions of care; and maintain a commitment to ongoing professional development in these areas.Attend and participate in continuous professional development.Educate and support all assigned staff members, including the induction of new staff, and support line management in the ongoing performance appraisal.Person Specification – Person in Charge/Manager Qualifications & Experience 1.
A third level qualification in the area of health and social care or equivalent And 2.
An appropriate qualification in health or social care management And 3.
A minimum of 3 years' experience in a management or supervisory role in the area of health or social care. Must have: Knowledge of the legal and regulatory frameworks in the Republic of Ireland pertaining to the Health Act 2027, and legislation such as the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015.
