Job Description
The Associate Director of Engineering for the Centre of Excellence (CoE) will lead a team dedicated to driving innovation, developing best practices, and advancing engineering capabilities within the organisation. This role requires a strategic thinker with extensive engineering experience and a strong background in leadership, project management, and process improvement. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions that meet the needs of the business and its customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Strategy Development:
* Develop and implement the strategic vision for the Engineering CoE to drive engineering excellence across the organisation.
* Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of engineers and technical experts to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
* Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects within the CoE.
* Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget while meeting quality standards.
* Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the engineering team.
Innovation and Best Practices:
* Identify, evaluate, and implement emerging technologies and engineering practices that will transform the organisation.
* Promote efficiency and innovation and establish and maintain best practices for engineering processes, tools, and methodologies.
Collaboration and Communication:
* Collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to align engineering initiatives with business goals.
* Communicate effectively with stakeholders to convey project status, challenges, and successes.
Performance Metrics and Reporting:
* Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of the Engineering CoE and report on progress to senior management.
* Analyse performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.
Qualifications:
* Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field; a Master’s degree is desirable.
* Experience:
o At least 8-10 years of experience in engineering, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
o Proven experience in managing engineering projects and teams, preferably within a CoE environment.
* Technical Skills:
o Strong knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and emerging technologies in the relevant field.
o Familiarity with project management frameworks and methodologies (e.g., MPS, Continuous Improvement Methodology, OnePMO).
* Soft Skills:
o Demonstrate leadership and team management skills.
o Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
o Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders.
