Job Description
As a graduate engineer, you will be working closely with senior managers on the delivery of major projects. You will work under the guidance of a more senior member of staff on the civil & structural engineering design of a broad range of projects.
Candidate Specification
* Civil engineers will develop your skills in the following areas:
o Foul & Surface Water Drainage + SUDs
o Road + pavement design
o Water main design
o Flooding assessments
o Traffic analysis
* Develop your skills in the use of civil software analysis and design packages such as Causeway Flow, Civils 3D, Tuflow, HEC-RAS, EPANet, AutoCAD, TRICs, Linsig, QGIS, MapInfo, etc.
* Structural engineers will develop your skills in the following areas:
o Concrete, steel, masonry, and timber design
o Structural analysis
o Foundation design
o Conceptual design
* Develop your skills in the use of structural software analysis and design packages such as SCIA, Tekla, and TEDDS and drafting packages such as REVIT and AutoCAD.
* Develop a thorough understanding of the design codes of practice.
* Develop effective communication skills to facilitate written and verbal interaction with colleagues, team members, contractors, and clients.
* Consult with service providers and local authorities.
* Site monitoring with senior staff to ensure compliance with project specifications and assess/report on the receiving environment.
* Liaise with REVIT, CAD & Civil 3D technicians to produce drawings that reflect design outputs.
* Attendance at Design / Client / Site meetings accompanied by senior staff.
* Achieve familiarity and proficiency with PUNCH design philosophy, process, and software.
* Achieve familiarity with and implement company ISO Procedures.
* Develop efficient & proactive work practices, thereby contributing to projects that are delivered efficiently, profitably, and on programme.
During your period as a Graduate Engineer with the company, you will receive continuous on-the-job training and take part in the Graduate CPD programme that occurs during office hours. It is also expected that you will undertake CPD out of office hours by attending lectures, seminars, etc., and technical reading. PUNCH is a CPD Accredited Company with Engineers Ireland and encourages and facilitates young engineers in reaching chartership.
