Role: Graduate Programme
Location: Dublin, Galway or Cork
Reporting: Mentor and Regional Technical Manager
Duration: 18 months (Starting September 2025)
Mentorship: Each candidate will be paired with an experienced mentor in the loss adjusting field.
Training: Comprehensive training to become a loss adjuster.
Certification: Support to achieve your APA insurance exam in the January 2026 sitting.
Graduate Programme Overview

As a graduate loss adjuster, you’ll learn how to manage a caseload of either domestic or commercial claims from visiting customers at their home or business, helping them recover from loss or damage and finally settling each claim.
Imagine yourself stepping into people’s lives during some of their most unsettling moments, a burst pipe that damaged a kitchen, a fire that scorched a business premises, a roof damaged by storm. You’ll be there, the calming presence amidst the chaos, then returning to your desk at Sedgwick surrounded by your colleagues, to deliver a plan to get them back to normal.
You’ll be part of a team with dedicated technical and leadership support. The programme is perfect for detail-oriented problem solvers with a passion for helping others, who crave variety and want to build a rewarding career.
We’ll support you throughout with a dedicated programme manager, career mentor and investment to gain industry qualifications. The programme could be a catalyst to reach the very pinnacle of our company.
Graduate Role and Responsibilities
Some of the duties you will be involved in are:
1. Work as part of a team, liaising with external field adjusters and other areas of the business.
2. Processing and actioning mail and claim-related documentation.
3. Capture all information regarding the claim accurately and promptly.
4. Update records with all relevant documentation, maintaining Web Elite.
5. Contributing toward the success of the team and individual SLA’s.
6. Assisting Section Head, Line Managers, and team members to nurture an excellent team environment.
7. Claimant relationship management & Third-party relationship management – ensuring continuity of contact and arranging appointments.
8. In collaboration with claims support colleagues, conducting necessary pre-site inspection investigations and entering results and updates on the electronic file system.
9. Based on a comprehensive grasp of the case and liaising with claim support colleagues, communicating an action plan to the claimant and/or third parties – specifying actions, time frames, and deadlines.
10. In collaboration with claim support colleagues, monitoring the life cycle of a claim and progress chasing (ensuring fulfilment of action plans).
11. Applying policy cover, terms and conditions.
12. Preparing reports on the claim under investigation.
13. Arranging interim payments, examining costs and achieving a settlement.
14. Identifying suspect or fraudulent claims and dealing with the same in accordance with fraud guidelines.
15. Recording and resolving customer complaints.
16. Management of Client accounts, compilation of reports and attendance at Client meetings.
17. Proactive end to end management of a portfolio of files with specific closure and quality targets.
18. Be flexible with time and willing to get involved in other areas of the business as requested by management, including travelling to other locations if necessary.
19. Represent the business in a professional and positive manner at all times.

* Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. You’ll speak with and write to customers, Insurers, contractors and more, explaining complex details clearly, and negotiating fair settlements for all.

* Excellent understanding of the business strategy and able to promote the business to customers (insurer, intermediary and end customer / policy holder).
* Customer orientated and displays a willingness to meet and understand customer’s needs.
* Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
* Possess excellent negotiating skills.
* Ability to initiate new process improvements.
* Have a “can do” attitude and demonstrate a desire to deliver performance excellence.
* Have proven team-working skills and the ability to see the "big picture".
* Possess an ability to maintain focus, control and positivity under pressure.
* Problem-solving abilities: You should be able to identify and solve problems efficiently.
* Time management: As an adjuster, you’ll handle multiple claims simultaneously and plan your own week so you need to be able to manage your time, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
Qualifications and Requirements
A degree in one of the following: Law, Construction, STEM, Business or Criminology. This is a graduate opportunity.
A full driving license: It’s essential you can travel by car.
Ability to travel: When we’re busy, we may need you to support colleagues elsewhere in Ireland.
