Current Need
We are seeking an experienced Senior Analytical Chemist/Team Lead for a permanent position at our R&D Centre in Swords, Co Dublin. The centre combines technical and operational expertise to support the development and manufacture of clinical and commercial small molecule APIs.
Position Description
The Senior Analytical Chemist/Team Lead will provide technical expertise for developing and validating analytical methods related to small molecule APIs and intermediates. This role includes leading the analytical team for new product introduction projects and collaborating with R&D Chemistry, Operations, QA/QC, SHE, and external stakeholders to ensure compliant, efficient, and first-time-right manufacturing. The role also involves supervising and providing technical leadership to analytical chemists.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and validate analytical methods; lead technology transfer.
* Manage and mentor analytical chemists.
* Draft and oversee Analytical Qualification Plans and protocols.
* Support analytical testing for method development, validation, and release.
* Ensure GMP compliance and proper documentation of laboratory operations.
* Review batch paperwork and logbooks for compliance.
* Provide technical support for instrumentation and methodologies.
* Lead investigations and quality events.
* Champion Empower updates and compliance.
* Participate in team meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Discuss performance with management and identify development opportunities.
* Train personnel in new techniques.
* Support OpEx projects and foster a culture of operational excellence.
* Interact with customers and the wider SK network on projects.
* Lead analytical milestones on assigned projects.
* Support audits and customer visits.
* Promote safe work practices and maintain high housekeeping standards.
* Set high performance standards and motivate team members.
Required Skills and Experience
* BSc/MSc in Chemistry or equivalent; minimum 5 years’ experience in pharmaceutical analytical activities.
* Experience managing or leading teams.
* Strong teamwork, communication, and technical writing skills.
* Solid background in analytical chemistry.
* Ability to meet tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
* Openness to change and new ideas.
* Knowledge of FDA and European GMP regulations, especially related to laboratory operations.
