They currently have an opportunity for an experienced Legal Executive in Plaintiff Litigation to join the HOMS Assist team in their Limerick office.
Summary of job: - To perform the duties of Legal Executive within the Plaintiff Litigation department.
- To assist in the discharge of functions of the section under the direction of the responsible fee earner and ensure the smooth operation of the section of the office on a day-to-day basis.
- To perform the duties of a Legal Executive within a Plaintiff Litigation Department primarily involving Personal Injury claims.
- To assist in the discharge of functions of the section under the direction of the responsible Partner.
Duties and responsibilities: Act as main contact person on behalf of the relevant Partner in relation to the formal process and activities, to answer queries as required and within your remit and accurately relay information internally, to external bodies and the client as per the defined process.
Carry out Insurance Link Searches and when the results come if there are any claims/accidents send Partner detailed email.
Draft appropriate claim letters for approval.
Carry out vehicle registration searches.
Lodge Injuries Board applications.
Reminders to be set for each part of their process to ensure that the relevant correspondence is sent to the client at each appropriate stage.
Linked to preparing the Injuries Board forms is reviewing medical records, and in some cases, medical records requests would have to be followed up to ensure that all relevant medical records are obtained to ensure full disclosure.
Send medical appointments to clients and remind them of the appointments and in some cases must confirm attendance at the appointment with the Injuries Board and/or doctors.
Support the solicitor(s) in the various areas which fall under his/her remit.
Prioritise work accordingly.
Respond, on own initiative, to general queries and requests for information/assistance.
Deal with queries from senior personnel in company and externally as required.
Conduct own typing, scanning, filing and telephone contact work.
Deal with Replies to Particulars and Discovery.
Prepare approval forms for when we receive Injuries Board offers and also for when Partner is having settlement talks or when cases are listed of hearing.
Liaise with clients to prepare and finalise special damages for the Injuries Board, settlement talks etc.
Arrange appointments for clients to meet Partners for Pleadings or Injuries Board.
Prepare Injuries Board Applications and associated documents.
Creating and editing legal documents and templates.
Engross Pleadings.
Assist with taking instructions from new clients.
Conduct archiving.
To undertake other appropriate duties assigned by the relevant solicitor or his/her nominee.
Qualifications/experience and skills: Diploma in legal studies an advantage.
Membership of the IILEX an advantage.
Previous experience of a similar nature desirable, preferably including personal injury, within a Plaintiff Litigation Department.
Excellent knowledge of legal procedures and processes including court proceedings and enforcements of such judgements.
Ability to work on own initiative, unsupervised, in a busy environment.
Proven organisational and administrative ability as well as excellent communication skills.
A positive attitude, a proactive approach to work and a willingness to learn.
