The growth development of new and existing business in the area is paramount in this role. The generation of new business in this aspect covers sales to all customers, OEMs, contractors, large end users and covers all major segments including, but not limited to, Factory Automation and Industrial Automation. We also have teamwork support of key growth products or programs most notably, Controls and Software, Precision Fluid Control and AFAG.
Working to achieve agreed sales targets, the Area Sales Manager is required to grow the business throughout the designated territory through existing and new customers.
The Area Sales Manager (ASM) will report to the UK & Ireland Sales Manager, selling the complete specified Discrete Automation portfolio of products, services, systems, and solutions.
In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
1. To manage the designated area ensuring good sales growth in line with the agreed plan.
2. Where necessary, to take actions to improve performance, efficiency, and development of the product portfolio.
3. Develop and manage customer relationships to aid incremental sales growth.
4. Assist in negotiations, help to bring key projects to fruition, ensure strategic focus is given to initiatives as they are introduced and developed.
5. Ensure follow up of sales leads and react accordingly.
6. Organize strategic sales plans for the designated territory, ensuring alignment with the broader UK, Ireland and North Europe plans.
7. Provide monthly overall territory sales report (verbal updates are preferred) as detailed by UK & Ireland Sales Manager. Ensure any other required individual reports that may be required are submitted on time and relevant detail included and succinct.
8. Negotiate price increases as is periodically required by the company, working closely with the UK & Ireland Team and any matrix reports.
9. Manage all sales legal requirements, ensure the customers are fully compliant with trade compliance rules, contractual obligations and always uphold Emerson ethics policy.

For This Role, You Will Need:

3. Build and manage a sales opportunity funnel to achieve a high quote-to-win ratio.
4. Update and manage the company Salesforce CRM as required.
5. Cultivate relationships with prospects, converting them into valuable customers and key accounts.
6. Support UK sales growth for Discrete Automation business unit as needed.
7. Apply internal resources such as technical sales, internal sales, and customer service to improve efficiency.
8. Create and deliver sales presentations to drive sales growth.
9. Handle follow-up tasks such as technical proposals, quotations, contract negotiation, and post-sales support.
10. Undertake training for personal and professional development.
11. Overnight stays and days away from home may be necessary, and occasional overseas trips may also be required.
Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
1. Engineering Degree or equivalent experience, or other proven experience/qualifications
2. Relevant industry experience within UK is desirable but not essential
3. Demonstrated leadership and ability to empower, with proven track record.
4. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
5. Direct and interactive computer skills and electronic business interfaces.
6. Computer competency, especially knowledge and experience in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Power Point, etc.)
7. Proactive and high-energy style.
