To recognise five successful years of Belfast hosting TG4’s prestigious Gradam Ceoil awards, Belfast City Council is once again offering a £3,000 bursary scheme to three early career musicians. The objectives of this scheme are to enhance traditional music in Belfast, support creativity and cultural expression, professional development and to help promote Belfast as a UNESCO city of music.
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be aged 18-25 years old and actively involved in traditional Irish music, either as a musician or singer or both; and be able to demonstrate a strong connection to the city of Belfast.
There are three bursary packages available to early-career musicians.
Each awardee will work with professionals from The Duncairn Centre for Arts to produce a professional, broadcast quality video. As part of the process, you will receive industry insights, mentoring and support on how best to showcase your musical offering online.
Awardees will receive two tickets to TG4 Gradam Ceoil 2025 Awards ceremony and concert, details to follow at a later date.
Our partners at TG4 may afford opportunities for bursary recipients to take part in learning and performing opportunities. This could include summer schools and masterclasses; fringe events and to be part of the wider support acts performing at the main Gradam Ceoil Concert.
