Board Director Role
A unique opportunity to make a difference to the lives of children with Visual Impairment and their families as a Board Director
The Organisation:
ChildVision is Ireland's only dedicated centre for children with optical or neurological visual impairments, including those with additional disabilities. Located in Drumcondra, Dublin, with a satellite service in Cork, we serve children and young people aged from birth to 23 years. We aim to provide a supportive and inclusive learning community where disability does not create a barrier to the fulfilment of aspiration or ambition.
We offer a range of services, including clinical therapies, educational supports, reading services, and equine-assisted therapy, all tailored to help each child discover and reach their full potential.
We are currently in an exciting phase of new service and building developments and are seeking enthusiastic Board Directors to further support us on this journey.
The Role:
1. ChildVision is seeking to recruit Board Directors (charity trustees), ideally with a background and expertise in one or more of the following areas:
2. Law and Advocacy
3. Marketing/Media relations/Digital media
4. Education/Special Education
5. The Board are particularly interested in individuals with relevant Board experience in the disability sector and/or sector knowledge in relation to Health Services provision (including PDS) or visual impairment.
General Trustee duties of a Charity Trustee:
6. Comply with the Charity's governing document
7. Ensure charity is complying with its charitable purpose for the public benefit
8. Act in the best interest of the charity
9. Act with reasonable care and skill
10. Manage the assets of your charity
Responsibilities will include the following:
11. Providing input into and supporting the strategic direction of the Not-For-Profit organisation and contributing with insight, oversight, and experience of strategy formulation in the sector
12. Policy implementation as required
13. Joining one of the sub-committees (Audit and Compliance, Governance, Finance, Development, Quality Assurance)
Essential Skills/Qualities required for these roles:
14. A deep appreciation and knowledge of the Not-For-Profit sector
15. An understanding and commitment to our mission and values
16. A commitment to the highest levels of corporate governance
Board Meetings/Sub-Committee Meetings:
There will be a minimum of 5 Board meetings and 4-5 meetings for each sub-committee a year. Meetings are held at the ChildVision campus, Gracepark Road, Drumcondra, Dublin.
