What is the role about?
The Database Administrator will support the Global Logistics Operations Center (G-LOC) and Corporate Logistics for the Transportation Management System (TMS) software and all interconnecting systems. This role will maintain and manage the Data Warehouse in order to support the analytics team as they create critical reports for the business.
Which tasks will you perform?
* Operational tasks related to the data warehouse: performance tuning, database security, back-up, and more.
* Close collaboration with the business teams to understand business challenges and find solutions through well-considered building and maintenance of the Data Warehouse.
* Work with the data analytics team to develop reports measuring the success of business processes and identifying areas for improvement.
* Plan for and allocate the database system’s physical requirements, such as memory, disk space, network requirements, etc.
* Modify the database structure using information provided by application developers.
* Create user profiles and ensure system security through careful allocation of user permissions.
* Ensure compliance with database vendor license agreements, including the number of installations and managing licensing renewals.
* Create a backup and recovery strategy for the database, and regularly test backups to ensure usability.
* Monitor technical support for both database systems and related applications.
* Create reports by querying the database as needed, including pre-formatted reports using the application frontend or custom-made ad hoc reports.
* Monitor and optimize the database’s performance using manual or automated tools.
* Migrate database instances to new hardware and new software versions from on-premise to cloud-based databases and vice versa.
* Analyze, propose, and develop new processes and procedures to improve support for the TMS’s ongoing evolution.
* Any other duties commensurate with your skills and experience as requested by your manager.
What do we expect from you?
* Bachelor’s degree in IT systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or other exact sciences, supported by several years of experience as a Database Warehouse professional.
* Excellent working knowledge of relational database systems like SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL.
* Proven analytical and problem-solving skills to develop robust and feasible data models with the ability to think abstractly and analytically.
* Experience monitoring data and implementing improvements to system design.
* Solution-focused with proven ability to problem-solve and operate with urgency.
* Availability to travel internationally.
