This is a key role in the management of our Cavan operation, the site number 2. The site Quality lead is a part of the site management team working in conjunction with the operations team to deliver the site production requirements focusing on food safety and quality.
The site specializes in the production of cooked food products, much of which are canned, so operates 2 high-risk processes that need strong controls and processes.
The candidate will have experience of “high risk” food production processes and a science qualification, which gives them the knowledge of the processes they will manage.
In addition to their quality/technical experience, the candidate will have an interest in operations and supporting a business operation.
Responsibilities: QUALITY ASSURANCE LEAD
* Food Safety & Quality Management System
* Management of High-risk food production processes and canning operations.
* Compliance with regulatory standards, legislation, and liaising with DAFF officials.
* Corrective & Preventative Action & Non-Conforming Product Management
* Raw material and Stock controls
* Measuring adherence to Customer Specification.
* Liaison with Customers, customer complaint management
* Implementation of measures and control procedures which are “user owned”.
* Carrying out system self-assessment and working with Customers during audits.
* The achievement and maintenance of the BRC standard and the Bord Bia PQAS, in terms of independent third-party factory accreditation. Management representative for Bord Bia PQAS.
* Implementation and maintenance of HACCP & hygiene requirements. HACCP Team Leader.
* Management of Laboratory Activities.
* Management of Sanitation & Cleaning.
* Product and process development.
* Maintain standards as set out by the Company in relation to quality, yields, and specification
* Perform standard tasks as per instructed
* Adjust tasks as required to suit Company requirements based on customer specifications
* Health & Safety management
* Coordination and recording of training, including staff induction
* Communicate problems promptly through line management ensuring quick resolution
* Ensure the Company Environmental Policy is adhered to
* Coordinate technical and maintenance suppliers/contractors to ensure standards are maintained.
* Participate in continuous improvement activities (Lean Management)
* Management of staff in support of the site manager
o Ensure time-keeping and attendance is adhered to in conjunction with the wages Department
o Take appropriate action for dealing with absenteeism (in conjunction with HR), including the issuing of warnings, if necessary
o Deal with any Grievance/Disciplinary issues as per Company Policy
o Administer Annual Leave using the Attendance Calendar
o Review new employees using the Probationary Report Form
o Manage any issues that may arise as appropriate
Working as part of the group technical team, the role reports to the site manager and group technical manager.
