Job Description & Skills Required
Full Time Healthcare Assistants are currently required by BRINDLEY HEALTHCARE SERVICES LIMITED T/A MANOR HOMECARE SERVICES, with a salary of €27,000, 39 hours per week, and a minimum hourly rate of remuneration of €13.31. Candidates should have at least QQI Level 5 in healthcare or above; experience in care of the Older Person is highly desirable.
DESCRIPTION SUMMARY OF ROLE:
To share with other staff in meeting the personal care and support needs of service users in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes their independence. The care and support provided by Care and Support workers is expected to include support that would reasonably be given by members of the service users' family and is not to include tasks that would normally be undertaken by a trained nurse.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. To assist service users who need help getting up and going to bed in the morning and evenings, including dressing and undressing, washing, bathing, and going to the toilet.
2. To help service users with their mobility and any physical disabilities, including incontinence and use of personal aids and equipment.
3. To care for service users who are temporarily sick and need bed nursing and help with feeding.
4. To provide care and support for service users who are terminally ill.
5. To help promote mental and physical activities of service users through talking, outings, reading, writing, hobbies, and recreation.
6. To make and change beds, light cleaning, emptying commodes, and general tidying.
7. To inspect, launder, and mend service users' clothes.
8. To set tables and trays, prepare and serve light meals, clearing away and washing up.
9. To read and write reports and be involved in service users' reviews and training activities. To adhere to all Manor Home Care's policies and procedures at all times.
10. To report to the Field Care Supervisor or Care Manager any significant changes in the health or circumstances of a service user.
11. To encourage the independence of service users wherever possible.
