Key responsibilities include preparing technical reports and regulatory submissions to support environmental licensing, compliance monitoring, and impact assessments.
Fieldwork will include site inspections, environmental sampling, and data collection to support project findings.

Role Responsibilities Sample Collection and Environmental Fieldwork: Soil Sampling: Collect representative soil samples for laboratory analysis, ensuring correct sample preservation and handling procedures to maintain integrity.Surface Water and Groundwater Sampling: Conduct water sampling from rivers, lakes, streams, wells, and boreholes, following best practices for environmental monitoring.Ensure chain-of-custody protocols are followed for all samples to meet regulatory standards.Utilize knowledge of hydrology, geology, and land-use patterns during sampling to contextualize field findings.Site Investigations: Plan and conduct site investigations for various environmental assessments, such as contaminated land assessments, geotechnical surveys, and environmental baseline studies.Perform borehole drilling supervision, test pits, and trial hole logging, ensuring accurate field records and sample collection for analysis.Record soil and rock descriptions using industry-standard classification systems (e.g., BS5930).Collect and interpret in-situ data, such as groundwater levels, contamination indicators, and physical conditions.Coordinate with subcontractors and site personnel during investigations to ensure safety and efficiency.Data Analysis and Reporting: Organize, tabulate, and interpret laboratory results for contaminants, chemical concentrations, and environmental indicators.Draft high-quality technical reports for regulatory submissions, compliance reviews, and environmental impact assessments (EIAs).Prepare supporting documentation, such as site plans, logs, tables, and graphs, to illustrate findings.Ensure reports meet EPA, local authority, and client requirements, presenting findings clearly, concisely, and scientifically soundly.Environmental Monitoring and Equipment Handling: Set up, calibrate, and operate monitoring equipment for parameters such as air quality, groundwater levels, noise, and vibration monitoring.Troubleshoot, maintain and handle field instruments, including multiparameter probes, groundwater pumps, gas detectors, noise meters, and data loggers.Conduct routine and periodic environmental monitoring at client sites, ensuring accurate data collection and logging.Ensure proper field notes, logs, and photographic records are maintained for all monitoring activities.Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to health, safety, and environmental protocols when conducting fieldwork, particularly when handling potentially hazardous substances.Implement safe practices when working on-site, in accordance with site-specific safety plans and environmental management systems (EMS).Perform regular checks to ensure field equipment and sampling tools comply with regulatory safety standards.Additional Responsibilities: Collaborate with clients, regulatory bodies, and project stakeholders to ensure transparent communication of project progress and findings.Provide technical support during audits, inspections, and regulatory assessments.Assist with permit and license applications, ensuring supporting data aligns with regulatory frameworks (e.g., IPC/IE licenses).This role offers the opportunity to develop your expertise in fieldwork and report writing while contributing to key environmental projects across multiple sectors.

Required Experience and Qualifications Minimum of three years' postgraduate experience in a relevant role, particularly in an environmental consultancy role.Third level qualification in environmental science, geology, hydrogeology, or a similar discipline.Good acumen for technical and physical work.Good teamwork skillsExcellent written English and ability to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner.Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint)Good organisation and communication skills, strong attention to detail.Desired experience and qualifications Master's degree in hydrology, hydrogeology or similarExperience in one of the following areas: environmental monitoring, site investigation, field work or similar.GIS experience.Current safe pass and manual handling training.Access to your own vehicle.About you A graduate of Environmental Science or similar, passionate about the field, can carry out your duties with minimal supervision and be comfortable working alone.

Three plus years' post-graduate experience, preferably in a consultancy environment.
Can calculate results accurately and quickly and present data in a logical manner.
Work well within a team environment, provide support to other departments when required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to convert complex data into presentable reports.
Experience of or interest in working in a client-focused consultancy environment, where focus is on delivery high-quality services to strict deadlines.
Good at managing your workload, keeping high attention to detail and quality of deliverables.
Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, with strong teamwork skills.
