Main Location: Ballyboughal, Ireland Normal Hours: 9am 6pm Monday to Friday Flexibility is required outside normal hours where business needs dictate Job Summary: As the Customs Department Supervisor, you will be managing, advising and directing a large customs department (supported by structure of team leads and supervisors) in our Dublin facility supporting on all customs compliance and operational matters for our Ireland and UK sites. We are looking for a strong leader, with a cross section of skills covering both office management and customs knowledge. Our overnight Road Fright model between the UK / Ireland / UK results in a fast pace environment and we need someone who can balance the needs of the business with compliant customs practices. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Office Management Monitoring and reporting of daily team performance, use insights to identify and drive continuous improvements and training requirements. Develop and Report KPIs for management of Brexit team and management Chair scheduled customs operational meetings, reviewing and acting upon performance KPIs Coordinate daily operations plan with the customs management team and plan daily resource requirements to ensure all activities are actioned within expected timelines. Be a presence on the floor and work with the customs management team, leading by example to set the standards, boundaries and expectations for the department. Support Customs Office Manager to ensure full HR compliance Anticipate risks and delays, identify solutions and actions when required and inform relevant senior management and stakeholders Customs Processes Maintain a trust-based and effective relationship with Customs authorities. Ensure customs related operational processes are in place and followed by the Customs team. Utilising knowledge of customs procedures, to ensure shipments are cleared in a timely manner Support and advise customers on all import / export requirements especially with new processes brought upon the business by Brexit. Customer meetings and reviews with customers relating to customs processes. Interact with and support all Ireland and UK facilities to ensure a smooth and complaint customs operation. Ensure the business is constantly compliant with all Customs/HMRC processes and any changes to legislation are implemented throughout the business. Key Experience, Skills & Qualities: Proven track record of successfully managing a large and diverse team in a fast paced and challenging industry. Experience in dealing with customs authorities in Ireland and UK Ability to work on own initiative to get issues resolved A good working knowledge of compliance and HR regulations. Experience in dealing with customer demands and deadlines. Customs background in either road, air or sea freight and a good knowledge of customs systems An understanding of codes, Customs Tariffs and Security Declarations / transits.
