A Limerick based unionised manufacturing business is seeking to recruit an experienced General Manager. The role carries full responsibility for the site, with approximately 100 employees throughout manufacturing, engineering, planning, logistics, health & safety, warehousing, and quality. It represents an exciting opportunity for an experienced General Manager to drive the site forward, following significant investment in the last number of years.
The position reports to the Operations Director in the UK.
Role Responsibilities:
* Ensure a safety-first culture operates across the site and ensure that all company procedures and statutory requirements are fully adhered to.
* Plan, develop, and implement strategy for operational management to meet agreed organisational targets within budgets and timescales.
* Establish and implement clear, measurable operational KPIs that will help to drive improvements in operational efficiencies.
* Manage full site P&L, having input into commercial decisions and balancing the needs for revenue and profit.
* Meet customer requirements through the production of timely, efficient, and high-quality goods.
* Lead and develop operational and manufacturing teams to support machine efficiencies, quality objectives, and customer requirements.
* Partner with key functions and people, identifying potential new opportunities for business and promoting a partnership approach with customers to ensure we maintain excellent levels of customer service at all times.
* Plan and organise all necessary training of colleagues within the team and individually to meet operational requirements and agreed personal development goals.
* Drive change at all levels ensuring understanding and commitment to new ideas, processes, and systems of working.
* Project manage strategic developments throughout the site, with a CI mindset.
* Maintain and promote an up-to-date knowledge of world-class lean manufacturing techniques.
Requirements:
* Degree or equivalent in engineering, manufacturing, or commerce.
* Continuous Improvement Techniques – Black Belt preferred.
* Proven experience of leading a lean manufacturing business, preferably packaging/corrugated.
* Experience leading a team in a fast-paced environment.
* Delivering effective change management programmes.
* Be commercially savvy and have previous experience working with cost centre management.
* Sound working knowledge of basic systems such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
* Ability to influence as a persuasive negotiator, with excellent interpersonal skills.
* Experience in leading a collaborative union relationship.
* Working knowledge of ERP software, ideally SAP.
