About The Role
The role will manage and lead the day-to-day activity for one of the two Systems Operations teams in Europe. Responsible for the operation of over 1000 servers and 12 engineers, this is a key role in the Infrastructure function.
Your Accountabilities
* Manage and lead the day-to-day activity for the Systems Operations - Europe team, working closely with the Infrastructure Operations Manager and other Systems Operations Managers.
* Oversee the administration and maintenance of servers that host critical business systems e.g. OMP servers, GICO servers, servers that host financial systems, etc.
* Work closely with the Infrastructure Operations team in The Americas to form a global team and deliver services to all people around the globe.
* Ensure uptime and availability of critical business applications by providing a solid and reliable infrastructure foundation.
* Contribute to and implement plans to harmonise and standardise the existing server environment to reduce cost and streamline operations.
* Provide expert knowledge and guidance on the operations and maintenance of the systems and security technologies to the team.
* Actively coach the team members and ensure the team is adequately trained.
* Ensure adherence to Cybersecurity policies and controls.
* Lead the team to resolve all server-related vulnerabilities, incidents, problems, and changes in a timely fashion.
* Contribute to the planning and delivery of infrastructure-related aspects of the Global IS Transformation programme, managing the day-to-day implementation for Infrastructure Hosting in Europe.
* Build collaborative relationships with Global IS colleagues, business customers, and third-party suppliers.
* Identify areas for improving services delivered by GIS Infrastructure.
Role Organisation and Scope
The role holder will lead the team and work closely with the team of systems operations engineers across Europe. The role holder will ensure that the team is well prepared to carry out their work and will identify opportunities for further development and training.
The role will report to the Infrastructure Operations Manager - Europe and will work closely with all Infrastructure teams across Europe and TA to ensure a consistent way of working and the delivery of a positive service.
The successful candidate will join this team at a time of significant change as GIS moves from a country-led approach to a globally led way of working.
The role can be based at any Smurfit Westrock location within Europe. Some travel, particularly to Ireland and The Netherlands, will be required.

* Experience of leading structured teams across multiple sites and within a large region - Essential.
* Experience managing large scale server environments - Essential.
* Leadership skills with evidence of building capability, driving performance, and leading teams through change - Essential.
* Strong 3rd party vendor management skills - Essential.
* Demonstrable delivery through collaboration and influence - Essential.
* Practical knowledge of IT service delivery frameworks, systems and processes, and the associated governance frameworks, e.g. ITIL or similar standard - Essential.
* Excellent IT policy and process development and maintenance skills - Essential.
* Experienced at building and maintaining strong business relationships - Essential.
* Skilled at negotiation and influencing stakeholders - Essential.
* Business English verbal and written, including the ability to work with both business and technology teams - Essential.
* Manufacturing Industry Experience - Desirable.
* Bachelor’s or higher Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or a related discipline - Desirable.
