Job Description
The Senior Project Manager oversees the successful delivery of all package related activities. This role manages, monitors, and liaises with key stakeholders and related parties in the development and delivery of a large scale rail project.
* Manage the delivery of the rail project through its various stages from concept development to completion of implementation.
* Liaise and coordinate meetings between M100, M400, and M500 project teams to ensure alignment on timelines, deliverables, and integration points.
* Review scopes of interfacing series contracts to ensure they align with overall objectives and requirements of the package.
* Oversee and manage delivery of package activities and deliverables.
* Administer contracts for several projects as part of a program.
* Monitor, track, and report on project expenditure, schedule, milestones, change, and quality.
* Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with operational railway interfaces.
* Facilitate collaboration and integration among multidisciplinary program teams.
* Ensure compliance with planning and procurement policies across all related project activities.
* Advocate for continuous improvement, taking advantage of opportunities as they arise.
* Perform additional tasks, activities, or other duties as may be required or assigned.
Qualifications
* 15+ years' experience in project management activities with at least 7 years' experience including activities across the project lifecycle ideally within significant procurement activities through to completion in high value metro rail projects or similar scale/complexity.
* Construction management expertise.
* Commercial and financial acumen, including pre & post contract management.
* Leadership and management experience of medium scale diverse teams.
* Experience managing relationships with key senior stakeholders.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate clear and consistent dialogue between all parties involved.
* Ability to govern and drive project & program outcomes to ensure high quality service.
* Ability to manage technical outputs to drive efficiency.
* Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape project outlook.
* Strong project management skills to oversee planning, execution, and completion of the project.
* Ability to effectively engage with and manage relationships with various stakeholders, including customers, regulatory bodies, and internal teams.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate clear and consistent dialogue between all parties involved.
* Proficiency in gathering, documenting, and analyzing project requirements to ensure alignment with customer and operational needs.
* Expertise in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with the project.
* Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and ensure cohesive project delivery.
* Ability to identify issues and develop effective solutions to keep the project on track.
* Understanding of railway systems, including design, operations, and safety standards.
* Experience in quality assurance processes to ensure project deliverables meet required standards.
* Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and environments.
* Strong interpersonal skills with ability to influence and relate to individuals and groups - both technical and non-technical.
* Strong analytical and organizational skills.
* Ability to govern and drive outcomes to ensure high quality service.
Formal Education Qualifications
* Demonstrable academic qualifications (NVQ Level 7 or 8) or equivalent.
Professional Memberships
* Professional institution Incorporated level or equivalent.
* Chartered Project Professional (APM or equivalent) or Programme Management Professional (PMI or equivalent).
