SUMMARY OF ROLE
Mulcair Credit Union Limited is a community-based credit union based in Cork Road, Newport, Co. Tipperary. Mulcair Credit Union currently has over 7,500 members with over €45 million in assets. Mulcair Credit Union is committed to being the preferred financial services provider in the communities it serves, while safeguarding the credit union ethos for the overall benefit of its members. We are currently recruiting for the position of Finance Manager to join the Credit Union.
The Finance Manager will support the CEO with the effective management of the overall finance & risk function in delivering high standard financial administration, compliance and reporting for MCU.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and deliver on the creation and implementation of strategic business plans, business model development and financial strategies for the credit union.
* Contribute financial and accounting information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction and business cases for new projects and products.
* Report performance measures that support the strategic direction and assist in the monitoring and continuous improvement of every area of the credit unions operations e.g. key ratios, income analysis, product/loan analysis, cost analysis, productivity and performance, etc.
* Manage liquidity to meet the credit union requirements.
* Monitor and report the monthly financial status of the credit union by developing forecasts, reporting results, analysing variances and developing improvements.
* Production of annual projections, monthly management accounts with supporting schedules, prior year and variance reporting.
* Responsible for the preparation of operational, regulatory and financial returns to third parties to include the Central Bank, ILCU, and Revenue.
* Develop, manage, and implement appropriate systems, controls, and frameworks in line with regulatory and business requirements in the effective management of risk.
* Provide effective and timely reporting to the CEO and Board on current and emerging risk and compliance matters.
* Assist in appraising current policies, procedures and processes and making recommendations for improvement.
* Ensuring policies, procedures and processes are followed across the team.
* Monitoring compliance in line with regulatory requirements for the finance function.
* Reporting gaps, failures and non-compliance promptly to the CEO.
* Lead & facilitate the statutory interim & annual audit with external auditors.
* Participate as a contributor of the senior management team and work cohesively with team members to achieve the standards of excellence and performance required to reach the vision of the credit union.
* Maintain good relations with all members of the management team.
* Continuously act as a role model leader demonstrating the highest standards of professionalism, behaviour, ethical management, integrity and honesty.
* Work alongside the CEO with the Preparation and delivery of the monthly management accounts and all internal and external reports to stakeholders.
* Supporting process and systems development.
* Responsible for the day-to-day activities of the Finance team.
Requirements of the Role
The successful candidate will:
* Advanced knowledge of excel is required.
* Have a high level of commercial awareness and strategic thinking skills.
* Act as a role model leader demonstrating the highest standards of professionalism, behaviour, ethical management, integrity and honesty.
* Experience in credit union sector, financial services sector or auditing would be advantageous.
Desirable
* A recognised Finance / Business qualification.
* Experience of leading, managing or supervising a team in an accounting environment.

* Excellent level of IT skills, & Banking System experience.
