Our client in the Greater Belfast Area requires a General Manager within a Logistics Operation.
Overview
The General Manager is responsible for the end-to-end management of depot operations, including warehousing, transport, customs-bonded site management, and rework processes.
Key Responsibilities
* Operational & Logistics Management:
o Oversight of daily depot operations to ensure efficient warehousing, distribution, and transport activities.
o Implementation of best practices in logistics management to optimize workflow and reduce costs.
o Seamless coordination across departments (transport, warehousing, customs, and administration).
* Financial & Cost Control:
o Full P&L responsibility for the depot, ensuring financial targets are met.
o Development and monitoring of budgets to ensure cost efficiency across all operations.
o Identification of opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement while maintaining service quality.
* Leadership & People Management:
o Lead, manage, and develop a diverse team across multiple depot functions.
o Fostering a positive, performance-driven culture that encourages accountability and professional growth.
o Conducting performance reviews and implementing training initiatives.
* Planning & Business Growth:
o Development and execution of strategic plans that align with company growth objectives.
o Analysis of market trends, customer demands, and operational performance to drive continuous improvement.
o Setting KPIs and performance metrics to ensure the depot achieves operational excellence.
* Compliance, Safety & Risk Management:
o Ensuring depot operations comply with local, national, and international logistics regulations.
o Oversight of customs-bonded site management and compliance with customs regulations.
o Enforcement of health & safety policies to reduce risks related to manual handling, vehicle operations, and warehouse activities.
* Customer & Stakeholder Management:
o BUILDING STRONG CLIENT RELATIONSHIPS BY UNDERSTANDING THEIR LOGISTICS NEEDS AND DELIVERING TAILORED SOLUTIONS.
o Addressing customer inquiries and concerns proactively, ensuring high service levels.
o Working closely with senior leadership and external stakeholders to align depot operations with company objectives.
Qualifications & Experience
A Qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A degree is desirable but not required.
Preferred Experience: 5+ years of experience in logistics, transport, or supply chain management. 3+ years in a senior managerial role within a depot, warehouse, or transport environment. Proven experience in P&L management, cost control, budgeting, and financial reporting. Strong track record in site operations, employee relations, and workforce management. Experience in leading and integrating key management team members into a unified senior management team.
