We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Engineer with expertise in ABB MOD / ABB MOD300 control systems to join our pharmaceutical manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automation systems to enhance process efficiency, compliance, and reliability. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize automation strategies while ensuring regulatory compliance with GMP and FDA guidelines.Key Responsibilities:Design, develop, and maintain ABB MOD / ABB MOD300 control systems for pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.Troubleshoot and resolve automation system issues to minimize downtime and ensure production continuity.Support process optimization through automation enhancements and continuous improvement initiatives.Develop and implement control strategies to ensure system reliability and efficiency.Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical industry regulations, including GMP, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, and GAMP guidelines.Collaborate with process engineers, quality teams, and production staff to implement automation solutions.Perform system upgrades, modifications, and validation activities.Maintain detailed documentation for automation systems, including Functional Design Specifications (FDS), Software Design Specifications (SDS), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Provide training and support to operational and maintenance teams on automation systems.Work with external vendors and contractors to implement automation projects.Qualifications & Experience:Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.5+ years of experience in industrial automation, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.Strong expertise in ABB MOD / ABB MOD300 control systems.Experience with PLC, SCADA, and DCS systems.Knowledge of HMI development, industrial networks, and field instrumentation.Familiarity with GMP, FDA regulations, and validation protocols for pharmaceutical manufacturing.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with batch processing and automation in pharmaceutical production.Knowledge of MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and data integrity requirements.Certification in ABB automation technologies is a plus.Experience with risk assessment and cybersecurity for industrial control systems.If interested email your CV to GMcGlone@Horizon-controls.com
