About the Role:
Citco seeks a Vice President within the Platform Services team. The successful candidate will manage a team of database engineers and is primarily tasked with supporting the entire database footprint both on-prem and in the cloud. The position is responsible for ensuring the Database Management team operates effectively and efficiently, is properly guided and motivated and ensures customer expectations are managed. Working as part of the IT Operations management group, this role interacts with all functions across the Citco IT group.The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building large, scalable infrastructure, and is a creative thinker, problem solver, teacher, learner and a fantastic manager of people. This is a hands-on technical leadership role with extensive experience of SQL Server and Oracle databases essential, with additional knowledge of PostgreSQL being a plus. The focus of this role is to ensure optimal database performance, security, and reliability across our organization.ResponsibilitiesJob Duties in Brief:Active member of the Infrastructure Management Team.Lead and manage a team of database administrators, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.Develop and implement database strategies, policies, and best practices to ensure data integrity, security, and availability.Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of database systems, primarily focusing on Oracle and SQL Server environments.Manage database performance tuning, optimization, and capacity planning to meet current and future business needs.Coordinate database upgrades, patches, and migrations, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.Implement and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies to safeguard critical data.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate database systems with other IT infrastructure and applications.Monitor and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, and system failures.Develop and maintain documentation for database processes, procedures, and configurations.Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and industry standards.Manage vendor relationships and contracts related to database technologies.Stay current with emerging database technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact on the organization.Participate in budget planning and resource allocation for database-related projects and initiatives.Provide regular reports on database performance, capacity, and security to senior managementQualificationsExperience and Technical Skills:7+ years of experience in database administration, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet/Chef, RunDeck, Jenkins).Experienced with DevOps & ITIL.Good team worker with excellent verbal and written communication skills.Database management expertise, including performance tuning, security and high availability solutions.Proven experience in managing large-scale database environments in enterprise settings.Excellent knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL programming.Familiarity with database design principles and data modelling techniques.Experience with database backup and recovery strategies, including disaster recovery planning.Strong understanding of database security best practices and compliance requirements.Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.Proactive, enthusiastic and ambitious with an ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentAbout You:The successful candidate is an experienced and energetic contributor, with the ability to build customer relationships, while driving alignment and strategy across the Citco IT group.
