Applications are invited for a temporary part-time (0.4 FTE) post of a Research Project Coordinator (CuriosiTY) within UCD Conway Institute.
The UCD Conway Institute of Biomolecular and Biomedical Research (www.ucd.ie/conway) is an interdisciplinary research centre based on the UCD Belfield campus. Opened in 2003, it is the largest single research institute in the history of the Irish university sector. We explore the mechanisms of health and disease to develop preventative strategies and novel diagnostic & therapeutic solutions.
The successful candidate will sit within the Institute directorate as part of the public & patient involvement and engagement (PPIE) team, working closely with the research community and external partners including the school community to ensure effective implementation of the programme. This includes:
1. Coordinating the day-to-day activities of the programme;
2. Ensuring effective communication between all partners;
3. Communication and dissemination of the programme activities;
4. Supporting implementation of training programmes.
The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, be highly motivated, self-driven, and have a proven ability to act on their own initiative. The individual will need to have experience in cultivating and managing effective stakeholder relationships. Applicants should have strong project management skills; be capable of managing a diverse workload and be prepared to deliver high-quality work to tight deadlines. Excellent communication, administrative, and organisational skills are necessary. The role may require some travel to events.
Important Notes for Applicants:
* Hours of work for a full-time (1.00 FTE) post are equal to 39hrs per week.
* This is a temporary part-time (0.4 FTE) post equal to 15.6 hours per week. The actual days and hours worked will be agreed with the Director of UCD Conway Institute / Principal Investigator or nominee.
* The successful candidate is required to be on-site in UCD for the full duration of each TY programme week (8 weeks over 2 years). Hybrid working is supported.
* Travel to schools to manage the delivery of CuriosiTY outreach activities is required.

Eligibility Criteria
Mandatory:
* Relevant third level qualification, preferably in life sciences.
* Experience in coordinating projects engaging the public, patients or young people.
* Proven ability to manage a diverse workload and deliver high-quality completed projects to tight deadlines.
* Proven experience in establishing and developing a diverse range of effective partnerships.
* Excellent organisational, financial, and administrative skills.
* Proven track record in reporting and evaluating project performance.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Event management skills.
* Computer skills including social media management.
* Candidates must demonstrate an awareness of equality, diversity, and inclusion agenda.
Desirable:
* 1+ years' experience in a similar role.
* Expertise and/or a postgraduate qualification in Science Education or Science Communication.
* Knowledge of the Irish education system.
* Experience in proposal design and development.
