**Assistant Director of Nursing Job Description**
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) is a senior clinical position reporting to the Director of Nursing. This role provides clinical leadership, manages day-to-day clinical practices, and supervises staff.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure delivery of high-quality nursing and social care by following home policies and expected clinical standards.
* Conduct ward rounds to ensure best clinical outcomes.
* Review nursing documentation to ensure accuracy and timely completion of assessments and care plans.
* Monitor residents at risk of pressure sores, falls, and other adverse events, providing advice and support for appropriate management plans.
* Participate in handovers and troubleshoot ongoing clinical issues, escalating to the Director of Nursing as necessary.
**Staff Supervision & Education:**
* Support CNMs in the nursing home, provide direction, mentorship, and regular communication.
* Establish a team dynamic, ensuring cohesive planning, implementation, and review of improvements to care and practice.
* Carry out regular performance appraisals and education & professional development objectives with CNMs, staff nurses, and care assistants.
**Clinical Governance & Audits:**
* Undertake regular MAMS Medicines audits in the nursing home and ensure effective feedback and action plans are undertaken and reviewed.
* Responsible for carrying out medication audits, health & safety audits, risk assessments, and drawing up risk management plans in conjunction with the DON.
* Responsible for auditing Epic Care and addressing any issues related to documentation in association with CNMs, staff nurses, and carers.
**Management & Communication:**
* Open, honest, and clear communication is required at all times when reporting to senior management, direct reports, and all staff.
* Ensuring that the care delivered is consistently of high quality, and those delivering direct care to residents are appropriately skilled, competent, caring, and conscientious.
