Leitrim County Council Arts Office, in collaboration with the Healthy Leitrim Breastfeeding Programme, is seeking proposals from qualified artists for an Early Years Pilot Arts Project. This initiative aims to engage infants, supported by their parents or caregivers, in creative exploration and to lay the groundwork for a larger, more ambitious project. The successful artist will conduct research and develop a programme of activity at one location in South Leitrim, working with a group of approximately 60 children aged newborn to two and a halfyears.
The artist will be expected to develop plans based on insights gained from the project, with support from a mentor provided by Leitrim County Council. The role includes documentation of the process, participation in evaluation, and planning meetings for future engagementprogrammes.
The artist fee is €4,000, inclusive of all expenses, with additional provisions for a mentor, materials, and space rental covered separately. Candidates should demonstrate experience in working with early years children in a creative context, innovative art practice, effective collaboration, and strong communicationskills.
Proposals should include a programme outline, methodology, content, desired outcomes, budget breakdown, schedule, and a CV or portfolio of relevant work. The project is anticipated to be completed by the end of October 2024. Garda vetting and adherence to child protection policies arerequired.
The deadline for submissions is midnight, Sunday 21st April. Interested artists can contact Mary Blake, Children & Youth Arts Officer, at mary.blake@leitrimcoco.ie for more details or to submit theirproposals.
