Role Purpose
As a Lead Electrical Estimator (HV Specialist), you will lead and manage key estimation activities and systems for tenders.
You will ensure the highest accuracy and quality standards are met, achieving technical and commercial excellence.
You will represent the company in client meetings at the highest level and collaborate with the Estimation Manager, Lead Bid Co-ordinator, Engineering department, and Operations team on any issues that may arise.
You will contribute to the development of world-class processes to efficiently handle estimates.
You will support other estimators in addressing technical and estimation challenges across the business.
Lead Electrical Estimator (HV Specialist) Responsibilities
In conjunction with your team, you will be responsible for executing various stages of the Estimation process, including:
* Manage/Delegate/Perform: Provide commercial settlements for each bid you are managing.
* Manage/Delegate/Perform: Conduct tender adjudications.
* Manage/Delegate: Manage new tenders and control all tender documentation.
* Manage/Delegate: Quantify all drawings and tabulate them.
* Manage/Delegate: Prepare and issue tender documentation to suppliers and subcontractors.
* Manage/Delegate: Input estimators' take-offs into the estimating package.
* Manage/Delegate: Prepare spreadsheets indicating all prices received for suppliers and associated costs received.
* Manage/Delegate: Control all documentation, including tender and post-tender correspondence.
* Manage/Delegate/Perform: Update and maintain a register of all project estimates.
* Manage/Delegate/Perform: Hand over commercial files.
* Manage/Delegate/Perform: Ensure estimation process flows.
* Work closely with the Estimating Manager in standardizing the T&D division, developing a library, and closing out tender adjudications.
* Manage/Delegate/Perform: Act in line with the Kirby way.
Necessary Requirements:
* 3rd level qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Construction Economics, Quantity Surveying or similar.
* 7+ years of experience in the construction industry, with 7 years in a similar senior position.
* Experience working on tenders exceeding €7 million electrically within the Power & Renewables sector (Windfarms, Power Generation, Substations, etc.).
* Ability to innovate and lead electrical/technical activity and challenges, particularly within MV & HV Electrical systems.
* Experience with the Microsoft Suite, especially PowerPoint and Excel.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Ability to manage, develop, and retain a large team.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Ability to multitask and manage many priorities.
* Excellent communicator/strong interpersonal skills/communicates with impact.
* Excellent record keeper and administration skills.
* Solves problems analytically and acts decisively.
Desired Competencies/Special Role Requirements:
* Preferred to have experience within Ireland/UK.
* Preferred to have direct experience in HV Substation Estimation.
* Applicable knowledge of required criteria/standards within Ireland/UK Standards relating to Substation construction.
