Job Description: AtkinsRéalis, one of the world’s leading providers of engineering professional consulting and support services with offices across Ireland, is seeking a Senior Mechanical/Electrical Engineer, with 7+ years’ experience in the water/wastewater sector to join the Employer’s Representative team within the Infrastructure Division. The candidate will be responsible for the administration of construction contracts with a primary MEICA focus, across various contract types (primarily Uisce Éireann but also FIDIC, Public Works, NEC). The successful candidate will join a dynamic and ambitious team with excellent career prospects and international opportunities.
Duties will include:
1. Undertake role of Employer’s Representative as part of a multidiscipline team.
2. Ensuring project design and construction meet safety and current standards and regulations.
3. Liaise with design build operate (DBO) Contractors, Resident Engineering (RE) team, and Client personnel.
4. Prepare monthly progress monitoring reports (internal & external stakeholders).
5. Attend monthly progress meetings with client, RE, and contractors.
6. Stakeholder management (e.g., UE Asset Planning and Operations, local authorities, third party designers, etc.).
7. Review of Contractor HSQE documentation.
8. Review and assess Contractor submissions including management plans, method statements, and risk registers.
9. Review Contractor MEICA design submissions including equipment details against Client requirements and preparation of concise review comments.
10. Coordinate responses to RFI’s from the Contractor.
11. Review and certify Contractor’s monthly Payment Certificate application against works complete and complete final account.
12. Review, assess and prepare reports/respond to Contractor's claims.
13. Assess Contractor performance against Contractual KPIs.
14. Coordinating safety file and handover document reviews.
Key Skills:
1. Familiarity with industry-standard forms of contract e.g. Uisce Éireann, FIDIC, NEC, Public Works (preferable but not necessary across all contracts noted).
2. Experience in the design, installation, and commissioning of MEICA water/wastewater infrastructure.
3. Knowledge of safety and health regulations with regard to the design and construction process.
4. Attention to detail and ability to comply with Quality Assurance Management Systems is essential.
5. Experience in financial management of design and construction budgets.
6. Well-motivated, able to work within a team environment and under own initiative to achieve project goals.
7. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in English.
8. Membership of an Engineering Professional Body.
9. Chartered Engineer (an ideal – working towards chartership).
10. Flexible approach with ability to multi-task and prioritise when necessary.
11. Positive outlook and approachable manner.
